Pets are welcome in all outdoor public areas of the Very Large Array (📍New Mexico) as long as they are kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet. We ask that you abide by the B.A.R.K. principles: (B)ag your pet’s waste (A)lways leash your pet (R)espect wildlife, and (K)now where you can go. No pets are allowed in the VLA Visitor Center and Gift Shop. If you have a service dog, please notify the staff and we will do our best to accommodate you. It’s hard to fathom that each dish weighs a staggering 230 tons and boasts a whopping diameter of 25 meters (82 feet) - engineering at its finest 😯 The VLA plays a vital role in a vast array of radio wavelength astronomical studies, ranging from black holes, young stellar systems, and galaxy clusters to star formation! The VLA is a mind-blowing facility that allows astronomers to explore the universe in new and exciting ways!
