It is the Navier-Stokes equation in action. Fluid dynamics governs how liquids and gases move through space. At the molecular level, each fluid particle pushes its neighbors through pressure forces, drags them through viscosity, and falls under gravity. The balance between these three forces determines whether a fluid flows smoothly (laminar) or chaotically (turbulent). The Reynolds number Re = ρvL/μ predicts this transition — low Re means orderly flow, high Re means chaos. This simulation uses Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) to model hundreds of particles interacting in real time across four environments: a dam break where water pressure drives explosive collapse, flow past a rock where wake patterns form behind the obstacle, a Venturi channel where the continuity equation A₁v₁ = A₂v₂ forces fluid to accelerate through a narrow throat, and a stepped waterfall where gravitational potential energy converts to kinetic energy at each drop. Three fluids — water (μ=0.05), oil (μ=0.14), and honey (μ=0.32) — demonstrate how viscosity fundamentally changes flow behavior under identical conditions.
