Sorry, they started lacing on before we could get the beginning! But, it’s just like the end, tie onto the bar and start. Always go around the same way. Around your bar and up through the bottom of each bout or come down through the top of your bout (bundles of threads). The key is consistency. Love this way of tensioning as it self adjusts. Now almost ready to weave our “Simply Check” hand towels! Decided to speed this one up a bit as it’s pretty repetitive. Plan to slow this down in the near future and show from beginning to end, a short educational clip of tensioning by lacing on. . . #weaversoftexas #handwoven #handmade #homesteadfibercrafts #warp #handweavers #weavers

I’ve been working with @cabrachtrust for sometime now and this week I have been weaving a sample on the table loom for members of the Trust to visit and discuss ‘in loom’. CAD is an incredible tool for fast and easy development of design options… types of pattern, proportion, scale etc but for the fine tuning of colour and balance there’s nothing to beat a real piece of cloth. After perhaps months of discussions and getting to know your customer, it’s a lovely feeling to see their cloth come alive in your hands.

End by end, inch by inch, making my way across threading/drawing in this 45” wide/ 900 end warp. • Forcing yourself to unlearn an inefficient technique and learn a new one is hard and takes serious discipline. Initially it takes 10x longer, and it’s tempting to revert back to the old way. I am “unlearning” the one by one grab and thread technique that so many do, and learning the “trade secret” technique that @theburroughsgarret demonstrates in his IGtv. It’s incredible how much I have improved in just 15 inches and it truly is so much faster, easier AND more accurate. • Any weavers out there that want to improve your threading speed and accuracy, I cannot recommend Justin’s method enough.
