What is code switching and why does it get so exhausting? It’s not just the change between speaking slang and then “proper” english, it can also be changing your mannerism, energy, language, and way that you approach conversations as a whole. With having a full book of clients, we often have to flip back and forth the way we approach each client in a day, and it can be the most exhausting part of the work we do! How do we fix it? When prebooking, be aware of who costs you more energy and who does not. I have some of the most wonderful people I’ve seen for a decade— that I still have to pump myself up for. Schedule the people that use the most excitement you have during the part of the day where you have the most energy. And try to plug in those chill ones around it. Having people who don’t want to talk at the end of the day is also convenient, because sometimes we’re all out of words. Do you experience this behind the chair? Lmk in the comments!!
