How to Identify Bug Bites 👀 Not all bug bites are the same. Knowing what you’re dealing with helps you take the right next step. Common bug bites we see: 🦟 Mosquito bites Round, puffy, and itchy 🐜 Ant bites Small, red, and sometimes painful 🕷️ Spider bites Isolated, swollen, and often tender 🐶 Flea bites Small clusters, usually around ankles 🛏️ Bed bug bites Lines or groups that appear overnight How to treat bites: Clean the area, reduce swelling with a cold compress, and use anti-itch cream if needed. Occasional bites happen—but if you’re noticing them regularly, there may be pest activity in or around your home. Treating the itch helps short term, but stopping the source is the real solution. 📞 If bug bites keep showing up, give us a call. We’re here to help protect your home and stop pests at the source.

Harassing any wildlife is never a good idea for someone who isnt as knowledgeable in the matter, but being careless for even a second can change a more experienced person’s life. Being held in high regard for its potentially devastating necrotic effects caused by its venomous bite, the Brown Recluse (Loxosceles reclusa) usually has people stay clear from its presence. Me however, I wanted to experience what a bite from my female Brown Recluse would feel like, and also, how its venom would react with my flesh. Despite being equipped with fangs and venom to defend itself, this particular recluse chose the pacifist route and decided to spared me. Despite this one isolated experience that I got to record, it really goes against the stigma that all Brown Recluses will bite. Of course, this video is by no means saying that a Brown Recluse won’t bite someone if it’s held against their body. What this video does show however is that potentially, some recluses will withhold their defenses, even in situations where they’re trapped and unable to escape. I would like to retry this again with a different Brown Recluse in the future to see what the outcome will be! *Hand drawn stickers added to my store’s website for purchase via link in bio! Glad I waited until after I held him for 10 minutes to look up what it was! 😅 The North American wheel bug (Arilus cristatus) is a large, beneficial assassin bug known for the cog-like “wheel” on its back. It is a predator that feeds on other insects, but it can deliver a very painful bite if handled, causing intense pain and numbness. While its bite is not considered seriously venomous, it should be avoided by not touching the insect

Throwback, one of my favorite videos…When I discovered that rove beetles use their abdomen to shove their wings back up under their elytra! Videos taken with iphone and Clip-on macro lens. This species was a very exciting find for me. A little over a year ago, I finally found Dinothenarus saphyrinus, a beautiful rove beetle with iridescent blue elytra. Rove beetles are in the family Staphylinidae. I had been hoping to find one ever since my friend caught one at Putah creek back in 2020. There appears to be a population living around Putah Creek, as a few people have seen them there and not found them anywhere else in Davis. #entomology #entomologist #insects #animals #wildlife #beetles #beetle #staphylinidae #rovebeetle #nature #reels
