(Read below👇) This may look simple at first, but… If your child struggles with ADHD or anxiety, this 60-second exercise can make a BIG difference. Here’s why... These two boys are doing The Lizard Exercise, and it’s one of the easiest ways to calm an overstimulated nervous system and organize the brain for better attention, emotional control, and learning. ➡️ If your child melts down easily ➡️ Gets overwhelmed by noises or chaos ➡️ Has trouble sitting still or focusing ➡️ Struggles with impulsivity or transitions ➡️ Or seems anxious about “small” things… You’re not alone — and it’s not bad parenting. Many kids today have primitive reflexes that never fully integrated, which keeps their brain stuck in survival mode instead of problem-solving mode. The Lizard helps because it activates: ✔️ Cross-body movement (boosts focus & coordination) ✔️ Vestibular system (supports emotional regulation) ✔️ Core & midline (for body awareness) ✔️ Brainstem → cerebellum → cortex pathway (for attention + learning) Together, that means: 🧠 calmer nervous system 🧠 fewer emotional outbursts 🧠 better attention 🧠 more confidence 🧠 improved impulse control If you want more natural home-based strategies like this for ADHD… 💬 Comment “SPOT” to get into our free training. And if you want to learn exactly why primitive reflexes matter — and what you can do to help your child from home, we’re hosting a free webinar called: “3 Simple Secrets to Solving ADHD 100% Naturally From Home.” Happening soon + spots are filling quickly — just comment SPOT and we’ll save you one 💛 #adhdsupport #primitivereflexes #childdevelopment #ADHDKids #

Proprioception is the foundation of body awareness — and this exercise, Finding neutral pelvis, is a great place to start exploring it. Close your eyes. Feel the weight, the balance, the alignment — without needing to see it. Taking even a few seconds to pause and reconnect with your center can shift how you move, train, and perform. 🌀 It’s the feeling before the form that truly matters. #Proprioception#BodyAwareness #MindBodyConnection #PBT#Alignment

Sensory systems matter. A lot. Your body’s internal navigation system relies on three big players: 👀 Vision 🌀 Vestibular system (inner ear) 🦶 Proprioception (body awareness) 💡Fun fact: Spotting is a technique that dancers use to prevent dizziness during rapid turning. They keep their eyes stable on a target and intentionally allow the head to lag behind the body. This action works against the VOR (vestibular-ocular-reflex). Suppressing this reflex has advantages for dance performance but can contribute to problems with spatial awareness in other aspects of life. When your high-priority systems, especially vision and the inner ear, aren’t giving the brain clear, accurate information about where you are in space, the brain often responds with a threat response. That can look like: • dizziness • fatigue • feeling unsteady • or your brain “putting the brakes on” movement altogether. The cool part? These systems are trainable. With the right progressions, you can improve balance, coordination, and confidence by working these systems gradually and in positions that actually matter for life and sport (yes, even bending over to tie your shoes). If balance feels harder than it should… If you feel “off” for no obvious reason… If strength work isn’t translating the way you expect… ✨ Vision or vestibular training might be your missing link. ➡️ Follow for more nervous-system-informed movement tips. ➡️ And if you want to go deeper, comment LIST to join the waitlist for my upcoming course Brain Body Blueprint, where we’ll learn how to train the senses and support nervous system health for smoother, more confident movement.

Many everyday body sounds are completely normal and often reflect healthy physiological processes. From stomach gurgling during digestion to ear popping when pressure changes, the body constantly regulates internal systems to maintain balance. These small signals are part of how the body communicates that important functions such as circulation, breathing, digestion, and joint movement are working as they should. Understanding these natural responses can help reduce unnecessary worry and encourage greater awareness of how the body maintains health. While persistent or unusual symptoms should always be evaluated by a healthcare professional, many common body noises are simply signs that your systems are functioning normally. Follow @healthvate for daily insights on healthy habits, body awareness, and practical wellness knowledge. What every Pilates beginner should know (but rarely gets told) Pilates results don’t come from doing more repetitions. They come from understanding WHAT you’re training. Here are key things that change everything early on: ✨ Shaking ≠ weakness - it means your deep stabilizers are learning to work ✨ Soreness is optional — control, alignment and breath are the real indicators of progress ✨ Once-a-week practice is enough to start and build a strong foundation when done with intention ✨ Pilates improves how you move outside the studio — walking, lifting, training ✨ Early results are neurological first — posture, coordination and body awareness come before visible change Visible changes may come slower at lower frequency, but the foundation is still being built. I started with once a week, combined it with strength training, and still saw meaningful results. Pilates taught my body how to move efficiently, protect my spine and engage muscles properly — which changed everything else I was doing. If you can practice more, progress may come faster. If once a week is all you can commit to, it’s still worth it. Save this if you’re starting Pilates or feeling impatient. Consistency matters more than perfection. So grateful to have @juliska_koolman on our team @lifetime.buckhead ♥️ From Jules: This inverted exercise on the Pilates barrel promotes spinal decompression and extension while opening the hip flexors, abdominals, shoulders, and chest. It challenges deep core control to support the spine in extension, enhances proprioception and body awareness, and supports circulation and recovery through inversion making it a powerful blend of mobility, strength, and nervous system regulation.

Most people only know Sun Salutation, but yoga gives us different salutations to balance different energies in the body. 🌞 Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar) For energy, strength, and focus. Builds heat in the body, improves flexibility, strengthens muscles, and activates the whole system. Best time: Morning to wake up the body and mind. 🌙 Moon Salutation (Chandra Namaskar) For calmness, release, and relaxation. Slow movements, deep breathing, hip opening, and side stretches help release stress and cool down the body. Best time: Evening to relax the nervous system. ⛰️ Mountain Salutation For grounding, balance, and stability. Builds leg strength, improves posture, balance, and body awareness. Teaches you how to stay steady and controlled. 🌞 Sun - Energize 🌙 Moon - Calm ⛰️ Mountain - Stabilize A complete yoga practice is not just about sweating. It is about balancing your energy. 🧘‍♂️✨ . . #yoga # #yogacommunity #sunsalutation #moonsalutation

The psychology behind dark showering ⬇️ Turning the lights down is sensory downregulation, less visual information to process, fewer cues to latch onto. That reduction in sensory load can help your body shift toward parasympathetic activity, the nervous system branch linked to rest, digestion, and recovery. A shower is also a built-in regulation ritual: warm water + steady pressure + sound. In the dark, you notice those cues more, and your brain isn’t distracted by mirrors or visual self-monitoring. You get more interoception (awareness of internal signals like breath, tension, heartbeat), which supports emotion regulation. Benefits: • Helps your nervous system downshift toward parasympathetic mode • Reduces sensory overload and “always on” scanning • Can quiet rumination by removing visual prompts • Improves body awareness and tension release • At night: less light exposure can make winding down easier How to do it (2–5 minutes): 1. Turn lights off or use one dim lamp/candle (safety first). 2. Start with warm water. Keep it steady, not scalding. 3. Breathe slower than usual for 60 seconds (longer exhale = stronger downshift cue). 4. Put attention on sensation: water on shoulders, feet on the floor, jaw unclenching. 🧠 Your brain is overstimulated long before you “feel” stressed, and a dark shower is one of the quickest ways to down-regulate. Share this with someone you know is stressed out a lot , or try it for yourself and tell me how it feels! . . #wellguide #darkshower #emotionalregulation #downregulation #nighttimeroutine ‼️(Disclaimer: do not shower in the complete darkness. Our proprioceptive sense (input from our joints and muscles) tells us us where our body is in space, the position of our joints and about the force and speed of our movements. Our vestibular sense tells us where we are in relation to gravity via input from receptors in our inner ear. Both of these senses help us with balance (along with vision), body awareness, spatial awareness, coordination and control. Follow me for more on this topic and for fun and dynamic exercises to work on proprioceptive training (coming up next!), plus how proprioceptive and balanced training affect attention, athletic performance and even emotion regulation.
