Director @geetagandbhir made Oscar history for it this year by becoming the first woman ever nominated for both Best Documentary Feature and Best Documentary Short in the same year (with her short film The Devil Is Busy also receiving a nomination.)
Made up entirely of surveillance footage, The Perfect Neighbor includes the very grim aftermath of a murder.
I asked producer and journalist @soledadobrien about the decision to show it. The victim’s family didn’t just agree. They wanted the world to see what happened to her.
