If you’re a self-taught baker, these will shift everything for you. 1.Ratios > Recipes Don’t just follow a recipe blindly learn the ratio of ingredients. That’s how you know if a recipe will actually work before wasting time or ingredients. 2.Mixing Isn’t Just Mixing How you mix (and when) decides your texture. Overmixing or using the wrong method can ruin your bake even with the best ingredients. 3.Your Oven Has Secrets Yes, your oven is probably lying to you. What’s the secret? I have a few 👩‍🍳 But first, make sure you’re following @tismtreats for all the baking tips! 1. 1 great tip for sweet bakery style cookies is to finish them off with a sprinkling of flakey sea salt! This balances the flavors BEAUTIFULLY and makes them just a little fancier 🥰 (You can comment Salt if you want a link to my flakey salt I get on Amazon!!) 2. Cornstarch. This wasn’t always in my cookie recipes, but it is these days after seeing the difference it has made. Cornstarch helps your cookie keeps its fluffy texture while also staying nice and thick! I use it in all my cookie recipes. A couple of tablespoons added in can make all the difference! 3. Refrigeration, or freezing. I always freeze my cookie dough balls so they retain their tall shape! However, if you don’t mind a flatter cookie, you don’t always have to do this. And on the other hand, Refrigeration helps the cookie dough balls develop a deeper flavor and set up nicely! I hope these tips help 🥰 If you want to grab this exact cookie recipe, you can comment RECIPE and I’ll send you the link! (This is a paid recipe for $3 that I developed) #bakersofinstagram #bakery #baker #bakingfromscratch #bakingfun #cottagebakery #cottagebaker #bakedgoods #bakedfromscratch #cookies #cookiedough #cookiebaking #chocolatechipcookies #cookierecipe #cookietips #bakingtips #bakingtime🍰 #bakingtipsandtricks

Cookie 101: Honest tips and tricks from a home baker🫶🏻 ✨BUTTER TEMPERATURE MATTERS MORE THAN YOU THINK: • Cold butter cubes → thick, chunky, bakery-style cookies • Soft or melted butter → thinner, flatter cookies Your butter choice literally decides the texture before baking even starts. ✨FROZEN VS ROOM TEMPERATURE DOUGH BALLS: • Frozen cookie dough balls → thick, puffy, less spread • Room temperature dough balls → thinner, more spread If you love chunky cookies, freezing is your best friend. ✨TO CHILL OR NOT TO CHILL? •Want thinner cookies? You can bake the dough right away but chilling for at least 2–3 hours still improves flavor • Want thick cookies? Chill first, then freeze before baking. That’s the real secret to height and structure. Chilling develops flavour. Freezing controls spread. ✨BAKING IS WHERE MOST MISTAKES HAPPEN: You can follow a recipe perfectly… and still mess up at the baking stage. Most home bakers: Overbake Or panic and underbake. I personally don’t walk away from the oven. I bake at 165–175°C (fan oven) until: • The edges are golden brown • The center still looks slightly soft That soft center is exactly what you want. ✨SOFT CENTER DOESN’T MEAN UNDERCOOKED: •Cookies continue baking on the tray after you remove them. •They need about 30 minutes to fully set. •If your cookies are already hard in the center when you take them out, they’re overbaked and they’ll become even firmer once cooled. ✨DON’T OVERMIX: •Once flour goes in, mix just until combined. Overmixing develops too much gluten and makes cookies tough instead of tender. ✨FOR THAT BAKERY LOOK: • Gently bang the tray while cookies are still hot for crinkly tops. • Reshape immediately using a large round cookie cutter while they’re still soft. Yes, you can fix uneven cookies. Always😉 ✨MY PERSONAL FAVORITE TRICK: Add extra chocolate chips/chunks on top immediately after baking while the cookies are still hot. This way: • The chocolate melts beautifully • It doesn’t overbake • You get that glossy, bakery-style finish Game changer 💯 #cookie #tips #chocolatechip #fyp #explore

I know I’m not the only one struggling to line baking pans without creating a mess, which is why this BAKING HACK is an absolute game changer! It’s the easiest way to perfectly line a pan in under a minute without having to measure anything! I used it in my last brownie recipe reel and it worked perfectly! Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself! So how do you do it? Step 1: Put the parchment paper on the pan, making sure it’s big enough on the sides. Step 2: Fold parchment paper in half and place it on the pan so it covers only half of it, with the folded edge in the middle. Step 2: Cut two slits in the paper, one on each side, up to the bottom corners of the pan. Step 3: Open it up, fold the sides in, and push it down. That’s all! This hack works on all square and rectangular pans, and is great for baking brownies, cakes, no bake desserts and so much more! . . . . . . #hacks #baking #lifehacks

🎬 Top 5 Beginner Baker Mistakes to Avoid 1. Not Preheating the Oven ➤ Leads to uneven baking and flat cakes. 2. Using Cold Ingredients ➤ Room temp eggs, butter, and milk blend better and rise evenly. 3. Overmixing the Batter ➤ Causes dense, tough cakes. Mix until just combined. 4. Guessing Measurements ➤ Always measure ingredients accurately, preferably with a kitchen scale. 5. Opening the Oven Door Too Early ➤ Causes cakes to sink. Wait until at least 75% of bake time has passed. 👇 Tell us which mistake you’ve made before (no judgment – we’ve all been there!) #BakingTips #BeginnerBaker #CakeBoxTips #BakingMistakes #HomeBaking

Here are the tips I wish someone gave me earlier… real, practical, and actually useful for self-taught bakers🥰 1.Mixing speed matters. Low–medium is for combining; high speed only when creaming butter + sugar. Too fast after adding flour = dense cake. 2.Crumb is everything. The moment flour goes in, fold gently and stop as soon as it’s combined. Extra 20–30 sec can ruin the texture. 3.Room-temp ingredients aren’t optional. Cold eggs or butter = tunnels, holes, or gummy streaks. Let them sit 20–30 mins. 4.Stop mixing as soon as the batter looks combined. If it starts looking glossy or stretchy, you’ve gone too far. 5.Don’t rush sugar. Cream until pale & airy, not just mixed. This step = softness. Which one of these tips surprised you the most? Here’s one of the simplest baking tricks that upgraded every single cake I make: I place a small baking pan or a metal bowl with water on the first rack of the oven. That’s it. And once you try it… you won’t bake without it again. Why it works: The water creates gentle steam inside the oven. Steam = moisture. Moisture = softer crumbs, even baking, fewer cracks, better lift, and cakes that stay tender. Your layers bake more evenly, your buttercream melts less, and your kitchen suddenly feels like you know ancient secrets. Your customers will taste the difference. Your callers will appreciate the consistency. And you? You’ll wonder why you didn’t do this sooner. Try it once… and welcome to the “I can never bake dry cakes again” club. ✨ Follow for more baker hacks that actually work ✨ Save this — you’ll use it every time ✨ Comment if you want more oven secrets ✨ Tag the baker friend who needs this immediately #BakerTips #BakingHacks #HomeBakerLife #CakeTips #MoistCakes #OvenHack #BakerEdition #NYCBaker #SmallBusinessBaker #BakingReels #ButtercreamCakes #CakeMaker #BakingSecrets #SteamOvenHack #BakingCommunity #BakerLife #CakeReels #BakedWithLove #SupportSmallBakers #BetterBaking

5 things I immediately say no to as a baker, and here’s why: 1. “Can I have 6 cupcakes but in 6 different flavours?” - Most recipes are developed for 12 cupcakes. It’s just not practical (or accurate) to adjust a recipe to make a single cupcake per flavour. I mean you can’t exactly quarter an egg. 2. “Can you make a cake EXACTLY like this picture?” - Every baker has their own style. Lighting, tools, and techniques vary and I have no idea what the original baker used. I’m always happy to be inspired by a reference, but no two cakes will ever be exactly the same. 3. “Can I pay when I collect?” - My policy is clear: a deposit is required to secure your order, and the balance must be paid at least 3 days before collection. It keeps everything smooth, fair, and stress-free for both of us. 4. “Can you make me a cake for tomorrow?” - I’m a baker, not a miracle worker! Custom cakes take time, especially when they include personal touches, handmade elements, or specific themes. 5. Fully fondant cakes - Fondant just isn’t my thing and I’ll always be honest about that. My expertise is in buttercream, and I’d rather stick to what I do best so you get a cake that looks and tastes amazing. #bakingtips #homebaker #bakerproblems #cake #cakedecorating
