How to use the cable machine series Today how to do the cable machine to develop/ tone back muscles. PT Bailey is showing you and guiding you on how to perform it correctly: When using the cable machine for rows, firstly adjust the height of your cable attachment by pulling the orange pin out, then you should slide the machine to your wanted height and make sure the machine is locked in. Once the machine is set up correctly you should make sure you have chosen your selected weight required for your set. Grab ahold of your chosen handle and position yourself so that your arm is fully extended. Take a step to ensure that the weight stack is suspended. By engaging your lats as you drive your elbow backwards squeezing the shoulder blade as you reach the full contraction of the pull. Once fully retracted, slowly to ensure that you have full control, begin to reset the motion and repeat the stages again for your desired amount of reps. Remember to control your breathing throughout, deep breath in as you contract, and a deep breath out as you relax. @baileybryant_fitness

WOOD CHOPPERS 🪵 🪓 aka Cable Oblique Twists aka Handlebar Burners… whatever you want to name them, these are GREAT. They engage your whole core, promote balance, and can pinpoint muscles that don’t get hit regularly. Some tips I give to clients when we do these are 1). Start each rep motion w/ resistance 2). Keep the arms extended 3). Have a stable brace with the knees slightly bent, keeping the feet on the ground in the same position 4). Keep that eccentric motion back to the set position nice and slow so it keeps you from speeding up. AND finally 5). Push yourself. If you can maintain form, then either up the rep count or up the weight. I try and do these to the point of where I can’t stay balanced while in the twist motion, then I know I hit my threshold. Cable crossovers or cable flyers are a worthwhile exercise to include in your routine since they train the chest through the widest range of motion. But this is only true under a few key circumstances. 1) you want to keep the handles relatively close to you so that your forearms are always perpendicular against the handle for the best support and force transfer 2) if you point your torso directly downwards, I find this to be more stable 3) straighten your elbows on the concentric and bend them on the eccentric to maximize that rom
