Speed isn’t built on treadmills. It’s built on explosive single-leg power. If you’re not doing these, you’re leaving speed on the table 👇 1️⃣ Single-Leg Push Off – 3×5 Drive hard. Explode forward. Builds first-step acceleration & ground force production. 👉 Train like you sprint. 2️⃣ Single-Leg Box Jump – 3×3 Explode up. Control the landing. Improves vertical power, balance & unilateral strength. 👉 One leg at a time = real athleticism. 3️⃣ Triple Jump – 3×3 Bound. Load. Explode. Develops elastic power & reactive strength for game-speed movement. 👉 This is where speed becomes dangerous. #usainbolt #worldsfastest #athletetraining #runfaster #athletemindset

Producing Power as an athlete can help separate yourself from the competition. 💪 Contrast training (pairing a heavy strength movement with a biomechanically similar explosive movement) is one of the most effective methods for improving power and sport performance — especially for field and court athletes. Benefits of Contrast Training: 1️⃣Increased Rate of Force Development (RFD) — Contrast training improves how quickly an athlete can produce force — not just how much. 2️⃣Post-Activation Performance Enhancement (PAPE) —The heavy lift temporarily increases: Motor unit recruitment, Neural drive, and Muscle fiber readiness. When followed by an explosive movement, power output is often higher than normal. 3️⃣Improved Intermuscular Coordination —Because movements are paired biomechanically (e.g., squat → jump, bench → med ball throw), the nervous system learns: Efficient firing patterns, Proper sequencing, and Better synchronization —This improves movement economy in sport skills. 4️⃣Increased Fast-Twitch Fiber Utilization —Heavy loads recruit Type II fibers. Explosive movements demand rapid firing of those same fibers. 5️⃣Better Strength-to-Speed Transfer —Traditional strength training builds force. Contrast training teaches athletes to express that force quickly. #sportsperformancetraining #sportsperformance #contrast #athlete #athletics

⚡️Athletic Development⚡️ 1. Drop catch alt. lunges Rhythm, coordination, deceleration, timing. All reasons I like programming these for my athletes. Also serves as a way to get the body tuned in during the first block of the session. 2. Single/Double leg broad to vertical jump Here we’re really working on the transition phase between the horizontal and vertical jumps. Rebounding off the ground onto the box. This is a little further down our plyometric progression, especially when done single leg. 3. Hip flexor Iso I use the third exercise as a form of “active rest” and a way to get some isometric loading into areas that may be typically weaker or under loaded depending on the sport eg. Hip flexors, adductors etc. This is just one example from one session. The structure of sessions always depends on the athletes, space I have to work with, equipment, time frame etc. but the principles remain very similar. After this we would move into our main strength block for the day.

5 Things EVERY Athlete Should Be Doing👇🏻 1️⃣ Maximal Sprints You may not sprint for your sport, but almost every athlete can benefit from improving acceleration & sprint mechanics as it pertains to triple extension (which is seen is just about every sport). All athletes should be hitting near or maximal velocity (95%+) at least once per week during their season to reduce risk of injury from competition. 2️⃣ Jumps This is God’s explosive training. Jump training has always been a staple of athletic performance outside of sprinting & lifting due to its uses in testing & peak power blocks. As always, athletes should be jumping on both one & two legs (for both height & distance) consistently throughout their season. 3️⃣ Hops Low level & extensive plyometrics intent on rhythm & elasticity will assist with a variety of coordination & force-related qualities in training. Examples: Bounds, Repeat Hurdles, Pogos, Rudiments, etc. 4️⃣ Lift HEAVY Resistance training is an expression of force. When we max out in our training, we’re lifting at peak force production/output which subsequently applies to all forms of power & speed. Athletes should be lifting heavy (85%+) cyclically depending on their schedule. 5️⃣ Lift FAST This is where we seek to enhance the rate of force development that we built in the off-season. We do so by lifting submaximal (below maximal) weights with maximal speed & intent. This is where speed-strength movements like Olympic lifts & loaded plyometrics come into play. BONUS: 6️⃣ Stretch & Mobilizing EVERYDAY Still the most underrated step on this list. Mobility & extensibility at the muscular level is the backbone of all strength training. It takes very little effort & a lot of consistency. Without mobility, we can’t build strength. Without strength we can’t build power or speed. Range of motion first. 👥 Follow @dnoelltraining for more 📲 Share | Save | Tag a Teammate — #strengthandconditioning #strengthtraining #sprinttraining #performancetraining #plyometrictraining #plyometrics #explosivetraining #summertraining #sportsperformancetraining #offseasontraining #offseason
