I call these flows but they are simply sequencing and patterning exercises. There are commonalities in athletic movements across disciplines that’s the basic movement patterns such as squat lunge hinge etc don’t fully prepare you for. These allow you to practice them slowly with added resistance, just like lifting weights. I do these second in my training structure. Slow, flow, go, grow, show. Twice a week, 10-15 times each time. I firmly believe it has increased my performance and general health and now they are an indispensable part of my training. But, you do you #corehealth #coreexercise #functionalfitness

Your*** 🙈 First clip is me 3 weeks postpartum. Second is almost 9months. 3 babies in under 4 years and prioritizing movement, pressure management, patience, and consistency. And before anyone asks: ⸻ ➡️When a movement is hard, especially something like a slow squat that requires control, strength, and coordination, the brain recruits everything it can to help. This sometimes includes muscles that aren’t technically needed for the task, like those in your face, jaw, or mouth. So if you’re not making ridiculous faces, perhaps you aren’t working hard enough.🤪 ➡️Plus, at times people clench or move their jaw to try to create more stability or brace the core…even if it’s subconscious. The jaw is neurologically linked to pelvic and core musculature, so tension there can feel like support. ⸻ ➡️Also, facial tension can stem from managing intra-abdominal pressure. For this squat, the descent is slow and challenging, so my system is trying to balance: eccentric control, joint alignment, pressure management and mental focus —- among my feral children, lol. Got back pain? Try this! Here’s my go to exercise for instant relief in back pain. I also use it as a warm up and cool down to exercise, as well as a mid-hike or mid-run spinal reset. This is also my go to posture for hypos on the beach. It’s nice to ground with your booty on the Earth and gaze at the horizon! After hiking down to my favorite beach with Maya in the carrier, I always try to get a few rounds of this exercise in to decompress my spine before I hike back up. Tips: 👉 Make sure spine is neutral with ears stacked over shoulders and shoulders stacked over hips 👉 Inhales expand the ribs 3 dimensionally and there is no outward movement of the lower belly 👉 Exhales elongate the spine and keep the rib cage lifted up away from pelvis as much as you can 👉 In Apnea: either press away from thighs gently to lengthen waist, or lift arms overhead #backpainrelief #lowbackpain #lowbackpainrelief #lumbarspine #spinehealth #spinemobility #apnea #ribmobility #corehealth
