When those tissues get tight or irritated, it can change how pressure is regulated around the ear, leading to fullness, muffled hearing, or discomfort. 🛠️ Technique shown here: In this release, you’re applying firm pressure to a very specific spot on the roof of the mouth while gently pulling the ear down and away. This helps influence the surrounding muscles and connective tissue that can contribute to ear pressure. Maintaining steady pressure while holding or lightly pulsing in different directions can make the technique more effective. 💡 Why this can help: This approach may help reduce excessive tension around the jaw and ear, improve mobility in the area, and support more normal pressure regulation. If you’re dealing with jaw pain, tension headaches, or that constant urge to clench or “crack” your jaw… this is for you. I’ve been getting a lot of questions after sharing my take on @humangarage and @leannrimes jaw release video …specifically, “is there anything I can do at home?” Yes… but let’s talk about how to do it the right way. This is a gentle internal masseter release you can try on yourself. And I want to be very clear about something: you do NOT need a ton of pressure to make this effective. Some people tolerate a lot of force and find it beneficial but most people don’t need that level of intensity. You can experience relief and release even with subtle pressure. The goal here isn’t to force your way through pain it’s to slowly nudge into the barrier of what feels tolerable and let your body adapt from there. If you feel your jaw wanting to guard, clench, or pull away… that’s your sign to back off a bit, not push harder. Done consistently, this can help: – reduce jaw tension – decrease headaches – improve opening and closing – calm down an overactive nervous system Think: low effort, high return. The viral jaw hack everyone is talking about 🤯 (DIY tutorial!) Saw the viral emotional release @garrylineham and @humangarage did with @leannrimes and had to share the DIY version! They are working on the medial pterygoid, a jaw muscle that holds a massive amount of physical and emotional tension. I’ve been doing this release on patients for years. It is an absolute game-changer for TMJ relief and jaw pain, but because everything is connected, releasing it also instantly helps improve core engagement, hamstring mobility, posture, and neck pain. Here is how to do it yourself: 1️⃣ Wash your hands or grab a clean glove! (I make it a habit of doing it in the shower 🚿) 2️⃣ Open your mouth about halfway. 3️⃣ Take your index finger and follow your top teeth all the way back until you can't go any further. 4️⃣ You will feel something that feels like a thick, hard rubber band. That's the muscle. 5️⃣ Push your finger outward (like you are trying to push out your ear) with steady, firm pressure. 6️⃣ Hang out there. Eventually, you will feel the muscle start to "melt" under your finger. Note: Sometimes the melt happens right away, sometimes it takes 30-40 seconds. Just maintain the pressure! Most people are much tighter on their right side, so if that's you, dedicate a little extra time and effort there. Have you tried this yet?
