And all of a sudden you’ve been up for an hour?➰ 🔅 When your body is winding down, your brain can get more alert (“Did I pee enough? What if I have to get up later?”). That anxious thought creates a physical urge, even if your bladder isn’t full. OCD, anxiety, and similar patterns make you notice every tiny sensation in your body. 🔅 This brings us to the The reassurance cycle: You pee → feel better for a moment → the anxious thought comes back → you pee again. Your brain learns that peeing reduces the discomfort, so it keeps requesting it. 🔅 This is something I have personally struggled with for years and am just now learning more about. I hope this is helpful :) • #mentalhealthawareness #ocd #anxiety #mentalhealth

"Neurogenic Bladder" "Detrusor-Sphincter Dyssynergia" "Interstitial Cystitis" These labels held me captive in fear and powerlessness for years. I was told I was defective, and given no hope of relief. I was told how "brave" and "inspiring" I was by the very doctors telling me I couldn't heal. But they were wrong. I healed, and so can you. ❤️ I threw all my catheters away, and I've used only mind-body practices to teach my bladder how to function properly again. I have zero bladder symptoms, I went from getting up to pee a few drops 8+ times a night to being able to fully empty before bed and again in the morning (every once in a while I'll go once during the night if I drank a lot the night before). But that's normal. 😊 I learned that I'm NOT broken. I learned that Yahweh created my body to heal. And I learned how to remind it how to do that. If you're struggling with chronic symptoms that you've been told are "incurable," "degenerative," or even "genetic," I just want to encourage you to consider that things might not be as bleak as you've been led to believe. You have the power to say no to that story and to step out into your new story. You have the freedom to rediscover your heartsong. I'd love to show you that this is possible for you. ❤️ Book a 1:1 coaching session or join our group coaching membership because it's important. Your healing is waiting. The rest of your life is waiting. Your bucket list that you've given up on is waiting. Let's get you out of survival mode and back to LIVING! 💪 Shoot me a message and we can discuss which option is best for where you're at. Or check out the links in my bio for more information. Do you constantly feel like you have to go to the bathroom or do you find yourself going to the toilet 'just in case?' These could be symptoms of an overactive bladder (OAB) 💧 Here are some things you can try to lessen the urge and improve bladder health: ⏭️ Calf rasies- the nerves that control the bladder also share a connection with the calf muscles ⏭️ Deep breaths- help to regulate the nervous system and reduce the 'got to go now' feeling ⏭️Pelvic floor contractions- try pulling up and in with your pelvic floor muscles to help support the bladder and the urethra Other things that can help are urge delay techniques, lifestyle changes and the use of tens to help with nerve stimulation If you are struggling with symptoms of an overactive bladder then get in touch - I'm here to help you take control 🌟 #overactivebladder #physio #pelvichealth #incontinence #bladder #bladderleaks #urgency #urge #womenshealth

Were you told to “pee before we leave the house”? 🙋‍♀️
So many of us grew up that way and now, years later, struggle with urgency, leaks, or feeling like we have a “small bladder.” I grew up that way, too. The ONLY time we have our kids “try to go” is before a road trip 🚙 aka when you don’t want to stop 20 minutes after you just left. It took me years to break the habit.
Peeing “just in case” had trained my bladder to be overly sensitive signaling urgency at the tiniest amount of urine AND decreased my bladder’s capacity to stretch and tolerate holding more volume without needing to run to the bathroom.
My “limited bladder control” wasn’t because it was weak… it was because I’d taught it to go too soon.
The more you pee just in case, the more your bladder learns to respond to those lower levels and the cycle keeps repeating. The good news? 🚽
Bladder patterns can change at any age. You can retrain your bladder to respond to real fullness and trust your body cues again without fear of leaks or urgency. This is exactly what I teach inside my membership (and practice with my own kids) as a pelvic floor PT. It’s not about ignoring the urge it’s about helping your bladder learn when to send the right signal. 💬 Did you grow up with the “just in case” rule? Have you noticed it affecting you as an adult? Or do you do this with your kids? Share in the comments👇🏻👇🏻

Just a small peek into my life as someone with OCD who’s writing a book to spread awareness about it ( @unthinkablethingsnovel )!! OCD can be really difficult to manage, and even though I’m doing 100000x better than I was before treatment, little things like this can still set me off. If you relate, you’re not alone 🫶 and it does get better with treatment & time. If you pee more than 8× a day… your bladder isn’t necessarily weak or overactive. Your nervous system is inflamed and you’re triggering it daily. How?
Tea, coffee, carbonated water, Diet Coke, Celsius, “vitamin waters”  don’t just wake up your brain…they overstimulate your bladder like caffeine on steroids. Your bladder is not just a storage tank.
It’s a nervous system organ.  It detects inflammation before you ever feel pain. More than 8 pees a day? Waking up at night to pee?
That’s not “good hydration.” It’s neuro-irritation. And no! You don’t need 8 cups or 1 liter a day.
Most people do perfectly on 40–60 oz. Overdrinking just forces your bladder into overdrive. Keep going like this long enough and you risk:
 • chronic pelvic pain
 • “needing” overactive bladder meds
 • sexual pain
 • anxiety from constant nervous system arousal Do this for 24 hours: (determine baseline)
🚫 No energy drinks, coffee, or tea
 🚫 No flavored “healthy” waters
🚫 No diet soda  ✅ Plain mineral water
✅ Real citrus water you squeeze yourself
✅ Herbal teas Track every bathroom trip,  paper or digital.
You can’t change what you don’t measure. If your frequency drops by even 2–4 pees/day…You just proved your bladder isn’t broken, it’s being irritated.

When our kids get stuck in compulsions, it’s easy to get pulled into the cycle. We just want to keep the peace, avoid meltdowns, and get out the door on time. But each time we feed a compulsion, OCD grows stronger. And pulling back isn’t easy — it takes grounding, intention, and a plan. That’s exactly what I’ll help you with in my free series 👉 How to Be an Effective Anchor for Your Child with Anxiety or OCD. Because our kids don’t need more reassurance or accommodations — they need us to be their anchor. ⚓ 💻 Register free at www.atparentingsurvivalseries.com or comment ANCHOR and I’ll DM you the link. #ocd #ocdproblems #childocd #ocdchild #childrenwithocd #ocd #ocdhelp #ocdrelief #ocdawareness #ocdadvocate #ocdtherapist #ocdkid #ocdkids #ocdad #ocdmom #parentingkidswithocd #parentingchildwithocd #parentingocd #ocdinchildren #ocdinkids #ocdteen #ocdinteens #ocdparents #ocdtherapy #ocdtreatment #ocdrelief #childmentalhealth #childmentalhealthmatters #ocdcontamination #ocdbathroom

I had endometriosis removed from my bladder back in 2021 and it's becoming very apparent that's its back. Bladder endo symptoms can include burning pain when urinating, the feeling of needing to wee more urgently and frequently and intense pain when your bladder is full. Basically it's like having a UTI without the infection. So if you need me, I'll be in the bathroom 🫠. @drmandydcn
Ruth Kriz has talked quite a bit about why some patients with chronic bladder symptoms don’t respond to the treatments they need. One of the reasons can be underlying infections or environmental exposures, particularly Lyme disease or mold. When the immune system is dealing with those stressors, it can change how the body responds to treatment. One marker she often discusses is natural killer cells, specifically CD57. Natural killer cells are part of the immune system and help control infections. When the CD57 level drops below about 100, it can sometimes be seen in people with chronic Lyme or mold-related illness. It’s not a standalone diagnostic test, but it can be an important piece of the puzzle when someone has persistent symptoms and isn’t responding to treatment the way we would expect. This is why in complex chronic cases, we often have to look beyond the bladder itself and consider the broader immune and environmental picture. 🧬
