Here’s what’s happening 👇 🚨 WHAT CHANGED: New Labour Codes came into effect (Nov 21, 2025) Full implementation: April 1, 2026 The rule: Basic Pay + DA must be at least 50% of total CTC Earlier: Companies kept basic at 30-35% of CTC Now: Government MANDATES 50% minimum 💰 THE MATH (Real numbers): Example 1: ₹10 Lakh CTC OLD structure: Basic: ₹3.5L (35%) PF: 12% of basic = ₹42,000/year (₹3,500/month) NEW structure: Basic: ₹5L (50%) PF: 12% of basic = ₹60,000/year (₹5,000/month) Difference: ₹1,500 LESS per month — Example 2: ₹25 Lakh CTC OLD: PF ₹1.05L/year (₹8,750/month) NEW: PF ₹1.5L/year (₹12,500/month) Difference: ₹3,750 LESS per month = ₹45,000 LESS per ⚠️ CRITICAL FACTS: Your CTC = SAME Your PF deduction = HIGHER Your take-home = LOWER This is NOT: ❌ Performance-based cut ❌ Company decision ❌ Negotiable This IS: ✅ Government mandate ✅ Applies to ALL salaried employees ✅ Permanent change #Salary #corporatelife #NewLabourCodes #PFDeduction #April2026

Basic Salary • The biggest fixed component. • Typically ~30%–40% of your CTC. • It is fully taxable and used as the basis for PF and gratuity.  B. House Rent Allowance (HRA) • A percentage of basic (often 40–50% if in a metro). • Used for income tax exemptions if you submit rent receipts.  C. Special / Other Allowances • Balance part of fixed pay to round up your CTC. • Includes flexibility for employees to allocate towards perks or reimbursements.  D. Conveyance / Transport Allowance • A smaller amount paid as an allowance for commuting.  E. Statutory Bonus • A nominal yearly bonus mandated under Indian laws.  2. Statutory & Retirement Benefits These are employer contributions that count toward your overall compensation (but don’t usually go into your take-home). A. Provident Fund (PF) Contribution • Employer contributes ~12% of Basic to EPF.  B. Gratuity • A retirement benefit accrued each year (around 4.81% of basic).  C. Insurance Benefits • Group Medical, Personal Accident, Life Insurance (valued separately).  3. Variable Pay / Bonus (Performance Based) Variable pay (VP) is not fixed and depends on your performance, team results, and firmness profitability. At EY this may include: A. Annual Performance Bonus • Paid yearly (often 0%–20% of fixed pay, varies by rank).  B. Other Incentives • Spot bonuses, project bonuses, retention bonuses in some cases. This variable portion is not guaranteed, and if targets aren’t met, it may be zero. Even if the company is offering a 12-15-18 lakh CTC, don’t get tempted by it. CTC is a flashy term companies use to attract employees. It’s not even recognised in any labour or employment laws in India. CTC is simply the total cost a company incurs for an employee. But it doesn’t mean that’s what you’ll take home. Some companies include weird elements to inflate CTC. One company recently added Rs 9,00,000 insurance cover to an employee’s CTC just to make it look appealing. But the employee won’t get that insurance cover in his paycheck every month. It’s not even a cost to the company—it just pays the premium. Companies do this to make the CTC look attractive and trap employees. You should never fix your eyes on CTC. 👉 Instead, negotiate your gross and in-hand salary.
