Everybody aims for top-tier tech roles. Top-tier pay. Top-tier growth. But very few strategize and tailor their preparation accordingly. There’s a common myth that FAANG companies are the best places to work—but that’s not always true. There are many underrated, product-based companies that are actually better in several ways. They’re hiring for 30+ roles, offer higher-than-market salaries, have strong ATS and resume screening processes, easier and more structured interviews, and genuinely better work-life balance. So today, I’ve compiled a list of these companies and I’m sharing it completely for free. If you’re serious about your next move, apply fast—this is a great opportunity. Follow and comment “DREAM”, and I’ll send the list straight to your DMs.

As an ex-FAANG recruiter, I’ve conducted thousands of interviews. And the candidates who get the offer usually do these 5 things a little differently: 1. They talk about impact, not just responsibilities. Most candidates say things like “I managed a project” or “I worked on a system migration.” Strong candidates go one step further. They explain what changed because of their work. For example: “I led the migration project that reduced system downtime by 40% and improved customer response time.” That small shift instantly shows value. 2. They make their answers easy to follow. Interviewers are meeting many candidates in a day. When someone gives a clear, structured answer, it stands out immediately. They usually explain things in a simple flow: context → what they did → the result. You can almost see the interviewer relaxing because they don’t have to work hard to understand the story. 3. They connect their experience to the company’s problem. The strongest candidates don’t just talk about their past work. They actively link it to the role. Something like: “I noticed your team is scaling identity systems globally. In my last role, I worked on a similar challenge…” That moment shows the interviewer you’re already thinking like someone on the team. 4. They ask thoughtful questions. The candidates who stand out don’t ask questions just to fill time. They ask things that show they’re genuinely thinking about the role and the team. For example: “What does success in this role look like in the first 6 months?” or “What’s the biggest challenge the team is facing right now?” Those questions create a real conversation. 5. They reinforce their value after the interview. A quick follow-up message can make a bigger difference than people think. The best candidates send a short note thanking the interviewer and briefly reminding them of the value they bring. Something like: “I really enjoyed our conversation about scaling the platform. I’d be excited to bring my experience with large-scale systems to your team.” Here’s the truth most job seekers miss: It’s about making it very easy for the hiring team to say yes.

Most new grads accept the first number a recruiter gives them. I didn’t. When I got my Microsoft return offer after my internship, the initial package was $178K total comp. Good by almost any standard. But I’d done my research, and I knew Microsoft had room to move. So I sent one email. 4 sentences. No ultimatum, no bluffing, no competing offer. Just data: what the market pays, what I’d contributed during my internship, and a specific number I wanted them to hit. They came back with $222K. $44K more per year. Because I asked. Here’s what nobody tells you: recruiters expect you to negotiate. The first offer is never the best offer. They have a band, and they start at the bottom of it. Your job is to move them up with data, not emotions. The email framework: 1. Thank them for the offer (genuine, not performative) 2. Reference market data for the role and level 3. State your target number clearly 4. Give them a reason (your contributions, competing interest, or simply the data) That’s it. No 47-page negotiation course needed. Follow for more salary breakdowns. #salary #swe #faang #negotiation #microsoft
