Stapler spider grabs beetle larvae Linothele fallax This is the same specimen that performed the defensive behavior shown in the viral video I posted years ago and reposted recently. In this recording, the spider was genuinely hungry and immediately attacked the larvae. The sound captures the force behind the fangs. It was recorded with a microphone positioned very close to the spider. No sound effects were added. Linothele fallax undergoes a pronounced color transformation during development. Juveniles display an intense orange coloration with black striping on the opistosoma. Adults become almost entirely black.
