Yes, you can run your quantum algorithm in an IBM quantum computer from your personal computer. How? IBM Quantum’s Open plan allows you to access their 6 quantum hardwares and run your quantum algorithm in their Quantum Processing Unit for up to 10 minutes per month. Note: simple algorithms around 5-6 qubits just take a couple of seconds to run, so that’s considerably a good amount of access since these computers are highly expensive. How can you run a quantum algorithm? Well, learn it first from IBM’s Qiskit learning materials and once you know how to implement it using Qiskit (a quantum software development kit), you can deploy quantum algorithms yourselves using Qiskit code. #quantum #algorithms #physics #computerscience #computer #science #quantumcomputing #mathematics #coding #artificialintelligence

Microsoft just made a massive breakthrough that will change technology forever. It’s called the Majorana 1, a quantum chip that’s the first of its kind in quantum computing. And what this thing can do is absolutely insane. Imagine a world where you could invent concrete that could heal itself. Or you could design a phone battery that could be charged one time, and then never run out of juice. That sounds like science fiction, but it’s not. This chip is gonna make it possible with quantum computing. Here’s how quantum computing works (ELI5). Imagine the process to invent the material for an infinite battery was actually a giant maze. If you solve the maze, you invent the formula for a new battery technology. A normal computer would have to try every single pathway in the maze, one at a time. And it could take centuries to find the right path all the way through. But a quantum computer works differently, because it can try every single path in the maze at the same time. This is essentially the difference between a bit and a qubit (the quantum bits that power quantum computers) Now this new Majorana chip has an architecture that can sustain up to 1 million qubits at the same time. That’s 1 million different pathways through the maze, every moment, until it’s solved. And what this means, is pretty incredible. When a scientist goes into a lab to create a material or a design new drug, they won’t need to run experiments. Because this chip will just give them the right answer the very first time. And It’s hard to wrap your head around what this means, but essentially, it’s new medicines, new iPhone screens that can never crack, new metals for planes that fly at supersonic speeds. Everything will change because of quantum computers. And we just entered the Quantum Era. Google has just announced a major breakthrough in the world of quantum computing. Remember their Willow quantum chip that they unveiled in December of last year? Well. For the first time in HISTORY,  Willow has demonstrated the first-ever algorithm to achieve verifiable quantum advantage on hardware, surpassing even the fastest classical supercomputers (13,000x faster). It can compute the structure of a molecule, and paves a path towards real-world applications. You might remember that back in 2019, Google famously demonstrated that a quantum computer could solve a problem that would take the fastest classical supercomputer thousands of years. Today’s breakthrough moves us much closer to quantum computers that can drive major discoveries in areas like medicine and materials science. Now there is debate in the quantum community, whether this is all just marketing speak or a real step towards quantum supremacy. I’m merely an enthusiast, certainly not an expert, so I am definitely not smart enough to weight in. But at the very worse, this means more excitement and funding for physics research, which I think is a great thing.
