Rounded Shoulders? Stretch Your Chest! It might sound obvious, but stretching your pecs could be the missing link to better posture. Your chest muscles (pecs) are huge, and when they get tight (which they will thanks to our daily habits) they pull your shoulders and arms forward. That not only wrecks your posture but also limits your overhead range of motion. That’s where this banded chest stretch comes in. It’s ridiculously simple, convenient, and the results are outstanding. Here’s what to focus on 👇 1️⃣ Load Up Tension: The beauty of using a band is you can create serious tension, helping distract the joints and open up space through your shoulder, elbow, and wrist. Do this first, and you’ll see way better results. 2️⃣ Turn Away With Your Hand High & Out: Your pecs are internal rotators. To truly maximize the stretch, turn your body away from the band while keeping your hand high and rotated out. This adds a ton more runway to the stretch. 💡 Bonus Tip: You can easily switch from a chest stretch into a shoulder internal rotation stretch that targets the biceps all the way down to the elbow. Tight biceps are a hidden cause of poor overhead mobility and this small twist instantly addresses that. Protocol: 👉 1:30 min chest stretch 👉 + 1:00 min internal rotations No matter which variation you do, just getting your hand high and away under band tension will do wonders. This is part of my quick 10-minute mobility routine (I’ve linked that video to this one if you haven’t seen it yet).

Make sure to check out the nerve pain program in my book if you need exercises to combine with this massage technique. ✅In general, I would apply such a mobilization for approximately 5-10 minutes and then work on adjacent structures or move to stretches and other exercises. #RehabScience #shoulders #shoulderpain

Pectoral Stretch💪🏼 - Get Stretching & Keep Moving! - One of the things about sitting at a desk is that if we don't look after our posture then we will get rounded shoulders. - If this happens then our pectoral muscles really tighten up and so movement and mobility is very restricted when doing a workout. - Here's how to perform the Pectoral Stretch: - 1 ➡️ Get yourself down to the floor on your hands and knees. 2 ➡️ Place one arm straight out to the side. 3 ➡️ Now lean into the shoulder and feel the stretch. 4 ➡️ Try this with different angles going upwards to stretch different fibres of the muscle. 5 ➡️ Hold for 3 seconds for a warm up or 15 seconds for a cool down, doing as many as needed.
