Common skullcrusher mistake I see all the time 👀 If your shoulders are moving a lot, your triceps aren’t doing enough. Skullcrushers are an elbow hinge, not a shoulder exercise. The upper arm should stay mostly still. 👉🏻 Bend only at the elbow 👉🏻 Keep upper arms stacked over shoulders 👉🏻 Let the dumbbells travel deep for more range of motion This is why I prefer dumbbells over barbells here. More freedom, better stretch, and happier elbows. Control the reps. Feel the stretch. Deviated just a bit from my regular strength training today. I did 4 working sets of dead lifts and 3 sets of 2 other back exercises. But after deadlifting we did 3 sets of 5 jump training. I told Kyle @semper_fitness_llc I wanted to be more confident with jumping. It’s a definitely a skill you lose if you don’t do it. And I’m quickly losing it. I know my body is capable of lots of things and it’s a scary feeling when you feel like you can’t move the way you want to. So grateful Kyle listens to me and will adjust our sessions so quickly to help me feel more confident in my ability to move ❤️ #strengthtraining #strengthtrainingforwomen

Today I did leg press (which I haven’t done in about 5 months) and just like last week I worked on slow tempo with a pause. My legs still feel like jello because we also changed my warm ups to 20 mins of jump training. So lots of legs today. We finished with a shoulder exercise that was pretty hard! #strengthtraining #strengthtrainingforwomen

Here I tackle the question of what it really means for women to “lift heavy” because I LOVE that this topic is getting more attention in the mainstream media, but I think a lot of the practical recommendations are confusing and misleading for a lot of women who are newer to strength training. I hope this video helps, and I’d really love to hear YOUR thoughts and open up a positive discussion. A lot of the information on this topic comes from influencers who don’t train real people, so I want to give my two cents as someone who is a trainer first. A lot of the recommendations I see being given don’t pan out practically in the gym, and I want share a more realistic approach so that women feel less scared and more empowered to try to get stronger safely. I know this is considered a long video by current social media standards, but it’s a very nuanced topic and deserves a full explanation. Truthfully, I could’ve spoken way longer. I give real-world standards for what is considered “heavy” weights for different ages and populations, but please remember that these are just generalizations for beginner or intermediate lifters. If you lift heavier that’s AWESOME! And if you’re not there yet, I hope this gives you a realistic goal to shoot for. Remember, when I say how much weight my clients use, that’s after some time training with me. If what I’m saying resonates with you, I’d appreciate you sharing this video because I’m sure it’ll be crickets, but I do think it’s very important. Gracias.

• Hip thrusts: 310 × 15
• Military press: 55 × 10 
• AMRAP Military press: 57 × 6 One thing I’ve learned over the years is that PRs evolve. A “win” today might look different than it did 2–3 years ago — but maintaining this level of strength, endurance, and capacity as I age is something I don’t take lightly.
