“Isometric” doesn’t mean nothing moves… It means muscles are producing force with very little shortening while joints and tendons handle the motion. At sprinting speeds, ground contact is too short to rely on big concentric actions. Force has to be present early, held briefly and applied efficiently. That’s why speed is less about pushing harder and more about staying organized under load. This is exactly how I think about sprint training inside Speed Kills, how strength, plyometrics, and sprinting actually fit together from acceleration to max velocity, and why exercise selection and volume matter. It’s not just what to do. It’s why it works and when to use it. Link’s in the bio. #speedtraining #plyometrics #isometric #sprinting #sprints

We often hear the same cues for acceleration, but what do they really mean and how useful are they? Acceleration is four things happening at the same time: 1️⃣ Falling 2️⃣ Colliding 3️⃣ Using the ground 4️⃣ Attacking If you only coach one of them, you limit all of them. If you want the full framework for developing acceleration and max velocity, inside the weight room and on the track, that’s exactly what I break down in Speed Kills. And if you want it tailored directly to you or your athletes, I offer custom remote programming and 1-on-1 phone consults as well. People love to build arguments around exceptions. After working in this field since 2008, the patterns are clear. Certain principles consistently produce better outcomes. Higher force output, more efficient mechanics, greater capacity. That doesn’t mean every athlete responds the same way though… Coaching isn’t about forcing athletes into a rigid system. It’s about understanding principles, observing the individual and adjusting based on how they respond. Exceptions exist and always will, but progress is built on patterns. Speed Kills is my most complete resource on developing sprint speed. It covers the biomechanics, physiology, and programming structure that actually drive adaptation. If you want a proven system, or individual programming built around you, both are available in my bio. #getfaster #speedtraining #sprints #sprinter #sportsperformancetraining

“How to Build Elite Speed & Explosiveness (Fast-Twitch Sprint Workout)” Speed isn’t trained. It’s unlocked. This workout rewires your nervous system to fire fast. We start with overcoming isometrics to wake up dormant fast-twitch fibers, then stack quick switches, jumps, heavy lifts, and sprints to force the brain and body into one direction: violent speed efficiency. This isn’t random. It’s a hex-based neuromuscular sequence that teaches your CNS to produce force instantly, your hips to whip like a piston, and your tendons to behave like springs not brakes. If you play a sport, train athletes, or just want to move like an animal again… this is how speed is built without guesswork. 👇 Comment SPEED if you want the full breakdown or save this for your next lower-body day. #SpeedWorkout #SprintTraining #AthleticPerformance #FastTwitch #ExplosiveTraining

THIS MAY BE WHY YOU’RE GETTING SLOWER At top speed, small mechanical mistakes can cost you big. One of the biggest? Poor knee lift and wrong shin angle. When your knee doesn’t lift high enough and your shin points too far forward, you lose the stiffness and elastic power needed to sprint efficiently. Another mistake — striking the ground in front of your center of mass. This acts like a brake, slowing you down and increasing injury risk. Key Sprint Form Tips: • Drive knees high enough to create a positive shin angle (slightly angled forward, not vertical). • Strike directly under or slightly behind your hips — never in front. • Keep posture tall, core braced, and arms driving to match leg speed. Small tweaks = big speed gains. Share this with a teammate who’s trying to get faster. Credit- @sprintfreetraining #SprintMechanics #TopSpeedTraining #AthleteDevelopment #SpeedTraining #SprintingForm

Old school plyometrics to build speed The concept of deep tier plyometrics I found from @mcinneswatson , he is much more credible to talk about that specific topic, but it works! It’s very similar to oscillation training, the ability to contract and relax at high velocities✅ Comment “free” for a 14 day free sprint technique speed program

‼️SPEED‼️ 6 months into prioritizing speed and I can say I am stoked on the progression so far. Speed encompasses multiple aspects when it comes to training; rate of force development, efficiency of force transmission, reactivity & coordination, tissue resiliency. Speed was something that was missing from my tool kit for a long time. I have been diving deeper into what training for speed entails and different methodologies for doing so. Learning from a few of the best @fingermash @drandreospina @riggest1 @keithbaar my understanding of what it means to be fast and ways to train the ability to express speed has deepened greatly. I know I still have a lot to learn & an envelope to continue pushing but the journey so far has been so rewarding🙌 #training #longevity #injuryprevention #bodypreparation #mobility #internaltraining #physiology #anatomy #fitness #health #coaching #generalphysicalpreparedness #movement #speed #plyometric

Explosive force isn’t just about how much muscle you have. During explosive contractions, some athletes motor neurons fired over 200 times per second. Those higher firing rates accounted for roughly 71% of the difference in early force production between people. Not muscle size or fiber type alone…but signal speed. Even more interesting, neural drive peaks before force peaks. Discharge rates spike in the first ~35 ms, while force continues rising after that initial neural burst. The signal comes first. The muscle catches up. That changes how you should program. High velocity sprinting, ballistic work, throws, ME lifts…these create the strongest neural signal. But they’re also the most demanding. You can’t stack them endlessly without negatively affecting recovery/adaptation. So smart programming organizes intensity. High days → strong signal. Low days → brief exposures. Enough to keep the system sharp without exceeding bandwidth. If you want to see exactly how I structure that across a full training block, that’s what Speed Kills breaks down, from acceleration to max velocity to weekly organization. And if you want your current program audited or built around your specific needs, I offer custom remote programming and 30–60 minute consults. #explosivetraining #speedtraining #speedworkout #sprinting #getfaster

If I had 30 days to become as fast as humanly possible, this is exactly what I’d do: Isometrics I’d start with isometrics to build the foundation for speed. Banded isometrics like the 90 degree hip flexor, 3 way banded calf raise, and single leg forward hold create stiffness and tension in the exact positions needed for explosiveness. Overcoming isometrics teach your body to recruit every muscle fiber for max force, while yielding isometrics like the spring ankle, Poliquin touchdown, and weighted iso extreme build control and tissue resilience. This creates the perfect mix of tension, stability, and elasticity Plyometrics Next comes plyometrics to turn that strength into speed. Reflexive eccentrics train reactivity and force absorption. Double leg jumps like chair jumps, drop jumps, and knee jumps build pure power, while single leg variations like SL drop jumps, skater jumps, and SL knee jumps improve balance, coordination, and acceleration. This is how you teach your body to move faster and more efficiently Sports Specific Lifts Finally I’d focus on lifts that directly transfer to sport. Unilateral lifts like safety bar and ATG split squats build strength and stability in sprint and cut positions. Bilateral lifts like reflexive squats and nordic curls develop total body force and protect the hamstrings and knees. Comment the word “SPEED” for my Free “Hip Flexors for Speed” Guide

❌ “No weight room = no strength training” ✅ Wrong!!! If you don’t have access to a weight room, a day dedicated solely to plyometrics can be a game changer. Every jump, bound, and hop builds explosive strength, tendon stiffness, and ground force application! The same qualities heavy squats or cleans would hit, but tailored for speed. ⚡️ Weights build muscle. Plyos build athletes. • • • • #thespeedmechanic #explore #viral

🔥 Want to get faster? Speed starts with power, rhythm, and control. Here’s how these moves level you up: 1️⃣ Resisted Pogos – Build reactive strength + stiffness for quicker ground contact. 2️⃣ Resisted Step Downs – Train eccentric control + stability for stronger push-offs. 3️⃣ Assisted Pogo Jumps – Move explosively with less load to boost frequency + turnover. 4️⃣ Resisted High Knees – Overload your sprint mechanics to enhance drive + coordination. 💥 Combine these for elite speed gains — faster feet, stronger springs, smoother strides.
