Israel (343 Punkte) wurde Zweiter, Rumänien (296) Dritter. Enttäuschung dagegen bei Deutschlands Punkte-Hoffnung Sarah Engels (33). Trotz beeindruckendem Auftritt bekam sie von den Jurys der ESC-Länder insgesamt nur zwölf Punkte – und vom Publikum null! Am Ende landete sie auf Platz 23 von 25. Letzter wurde das Vereinigte Königreich mit einem mickrigen Punkt. Zwischen Flammenwerfern, Latex-Bondage und Weltraum-Performances wirkte der Abend zeitweise wie mehrere Shows gleichzeitig. Wien brannte – und Engels sprühte den ersten Funken. Als Zweite betrat sie von Pyro-Effekten begleitet mit „Fire“ die Bühne. TV-Kommentator Thorsten Schorn lobte ihre „unfassbare Freude“, scherzte wenig später: „Was haben wir alles abgebrannt, da gehen die Spritpreise wieder hoch.“ Am Ende des Abends war das Feuer zwar wieder aus – auf ihre fehlerfreie und gesanglich starke Performance kann Engels aber stolz sein.
