As he told @willwelch several years ago, it’s simple: “I walk into every room as myself.” For GQ’s April issue, we examine the many facets of Jay-Z, and the 30 years of his nearly incalculable impact on culture since Reasonable Doubt. Jay sat down with @the_summerman for his first interview in years, on camera. That story, available in both written and video formats, is accompanied by photographs shot by visual artist Rashid Johnson, now primarily known as a New York–based painter and multimedia installation artist, but long admired by GQ for his early photo work in his hometown of Chicago. Kalpana Chawla broke ~atmospheres 🚀 🪐 as the first Indian-American to travel to space. Coming from a small town in India, she dreamed of being an astronaut. As a NASA astronaut, she was assigned to the Columbia shuttle and her responsibilities included being the prime robotic arm operator and conducting research on low gravity. Though her life was tragically cut short in the 2003 Columbia disaster, her legacy continues to be honored by a 2020 NASA commercial spacecraft launched in her name, the science she helped advance, and the generations she inspired. #pbs #astronaut #aapiheritagemonth #womeninstem
