‼️Mommy’s thumb, also known as De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, is a condition that causes pain and inflammation in the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist‼️ 🔸It is common in new mothers or caregivers who repeatedly lift their babies or young children. The condition can cause discomfort, swelling, and difficulty moving the thumb and wrist. 🔸Recovery timeline depends on severity, but it’s a good idea to get things moving as soon as possible to restore range of motion, strength & most importantly to improve tolerance to painful movements (because we can’t really stop lifting up our babies!) 🔸Here are some simple exercises that I give patients to do as often as they can on their own (within pain-free motion at first): 1️⃣ Wrist Extension Isometrics 2️⃣ Weighted Wrist CARs 3️⃣ Pronation / Supination 4️⃣ KB Radial Deviations 5️⃣ Banded Finger Pull Aparts 6️⃣ IYTW with Wrist Extension 🔸Give these a try and let me know how it goes!!!!
