Different therapy modalities support different people at different phases of their life. As a trauma informed therapist who leans more relational & experiential, I have found that CBT can be reductive and sometimes actually intensify shame. I find that the therapists I am most aligned with also practice from a somatic, trauma focused, and experiential lens. That’s not to say that CBT isn’t supportive for many, or that CBT is “bad”. It’s just not the type of work I feel passionate about, and not how I conceptualize therapy as a whole! If you’re looking for a therapist in MA or PA, we’d love to support you!
