This doesn’t automatically mean your disc is “getting worse.” Sometimes the issue isn’t just the tissue… it’s a nervous system that has become protective. Pain can persist when the system is perceiving threat — even when the structure is healing. If your body is guarding, bracing, or staying in a loop of tension and sensitivity, more mobility or more exercise alone may not solve it. Disc bulges are common. Persistent pain is often more complex. Sometimes what needs support is not more “pushing through,” but calming the system, restoring safety, and improving how the body loads and adapts. Pain is not always a damage signal. Sometimes it’s a protection signal. If you feel like you’re doing everything “right” and still stuck… this is for you. So your MRI isn’t pretty & PT sucked.. ⁣ And maybe the faces are for dramatic effect.. but if you’ve ever related to any of these 🚩statements, pleasee try an honest, dedicated bout of PT with someone who is fully invested in YOUR well-being:⁣ ⁣ 🚩 “They said I have arthritis in my knee so I can’t run anymore.” 🚩“My last PT just massaged me & gave me stretches.”⁣ 🚩“No one’s ever told me what’s going on.”⁣ ⁣ 👉🏼 You are not your diagnosis⁣ 👉🏼 What was found may not be your pain generator ⁣ 👉🏼 It’s probably more common than you think⁣ 👉🏼 Your PT should empower you, educate you, and teach you how to move when you no longer have them 1-2x a week to guide you. ⁣ ⁣ NUMBERS:⁣ ✖️In a study of almost 5,000 ASYMPTOMATIC people, 43% > 40 years old had positive image findings. ⁣ ✖️In a study of 3,100 50-some year old ASYMPTOMATIC people, 80% had disc degeneration and 36% had disc protrusions.⁣ ✖️Not to mention the chance of rotator cuff changes goes up 10% per decade after 30. ⁣ ⁣ 👉🏼 That image is a representation of what it looks like on the inside, but it may be inaccurate of how your body is actually functioning.⁣ ⁣ 👉🏼 Abnormal is actually very common. My lower back injury full explanation part 2 . . Many people has this lower back pain issue and they just consider it as a normal thing. But it is actually your body is telling you something is wrong. Some of your muscles are weak, you lack mobility and flexibility, many more reasons. In my case… A small pain came on lower back and top of the glute of right side. Didn’t gave it much attention and kept on working out as usual. Until the pain got worse. Started researching about it online. Thought it was Siatica and did it’s rehabs but that was not enough. Pain got worse after each leg days. Finally decided to consult a sports physio. Did some tests and got to know it is not Siatica. It was SI Joint pain. SI joint had inflammation and also glutes muscles were weak due to the frequent tension from the heavy workouts. And now… stopped all heavy lifting. Focusing on improving mobility, strengthening glutes knowing the capacity. And mainly made many difference in the daily activities to avoid the stress on si joint. And started doing exercises which will help me recover gradually. . . . #lowerback #injury #discbulge
