Design goes far beyond selecting finishes and creating beautiful spaces. Behind every completed project is structure, coordination, and continuous learning. From administration, mentorship, sales, marketing, and event hosting, designers wear many hats to bring a vision to life successfully. Design is not just creativity. It’s communication, organization, education, and the ability to guide clients through decisions that shape how they live and experience their spaces every day. At She’s All Interiors, design means understanding the full process, not just the final result. #InteriorDesignProcess #ShesAllInteriors #DesignEducation #InteriorDesignLife #DesignBusiness BehindTheDesign LuxuryInteriors InteriorDesignerLife

Stop being afraid of the no’s and start chasing them, because every no is proof that you’re actually in the game, having real conversations, asking better questions, and putting yourself in positions where something can change instead of waiting quietly and hoping things magically improve on their own. If you’re struggling in your business, the truth is you don’t have much to lose by being bolder, reaching out, asking for the opportunity, proposing the collaboration, stating your price, or saying what you really want, because staying exactly where you are is the one outcome that’s guaranteed if you don’t, and when you start chasing the no’s, you build resilience, clarity, and confidence faster than you ever will by playing it safe. Happy Mindset Monday, ✨ Let’s say this clearly: You are not just being hired to design a space, build a home, or manage a remodel. You’re being hired to manage people. Their emotions. Their expectations. Their fear. Their money. Their decision fatigue. You become the listener. The interpreter. The educator. The guide. The reassurance provider. The boundary setter. The emotional buffer. And most of the time… none of those roles are itemized on your proposal. Here’s the uncomfortable question: If you’re carrying this many job titles — why are you still charging like you only have one? Technical skill is only part of what your client pays for. They’re paying for your leadership. Your stability. Your clarity under pressure. Your ability to hold the project — and them — together when things feel uncertain. That is not basic service. That is professional authority. And professional authority should never be discounted. As we focus on being client-centered this month, I want you to consider something: Being client-centered does not mean being self-sacrificing. It means leading well — and pricing accordingly. More this month as we unpack the hidden roles behind the work you do. Talk soon, Nancy Giangeruso #mindsetmonday #mondaymindset #stopdiscounting #hiddenroles #priceaccordingly

Design is a business built on emotion, and emotion drives every decision. I speak at industry events, brand retreats, national and regional conferences, and showroom programs on the human side of design, where psychology, emotional intelligence, and business strategy intersect. My talks and workshops explore topics like design psychology, the emotional language of color, the psychology of luxury, money conversations that build trust, conflict management in high-stakes projects, and how empathy becomes a competitive advantage for designers and brands alike. Whether I’m on stage, leading a showroom experience, or facilitating a brand retreat, the goal is always the same: to help professionals understand how people think, feel, and decide so they can connect more deeply, lead more effectively, and grow stronger businesses. If you’re planning an event or looking for programming that goes beyond trends and delivers real insight, let’s talk. #designersofinstagram #interiordesign #interiordesigners

If you think design is about how a space looks, you are missing why companies pay for it. That line came up in my conversation with Lizzi Whaley, CEO of Spaceworks Design Group, on Misunderstood. She said something that stopped me. Design is a calculator. A tool to create business impact. Not a mood board. Not a styling exercise. A way to change outcomes. Here is what that looks like in practice. • Staff stay longer because the space supports how they work • Teams return to the office because it feels useful, not forced • Sales lift because customers understand the brand faster • Costs drop because layouts reduce friction and waste The look of the space still matters. Great designers know that comes with the job. The real reason clients hire designers is simpler. They want results. Research backs this up. Workplace studies show well designed environments can lift productivity by up to 10 percent and reduce staff turnover by double digits over time. In retail, store design influences how long people stay, how much they spend, and whether they come back. This matters even more now. Most interior fit outs are replaced every five to seven years. That cycle creates cost, waste, and carbon. So the question is not: Does it look good? The better questions are: • What problem is this space solving • What behaviour are you trying to change • What cost or waste can you remove • What material choices lower carbon without hurting performance That is where design moves from taste to value. And where designers become strategic partners, not decorators. If you are a designer, architect, or brand owner, ask yourself: Are your projects measured by photos or by outcomes Do your material choices help your client win long term What would change if business impact led the brief Keen to hear how you think about this in your own work. Your calendar looks reasonable. Your team is busy. Revenue is growing. So why are you still exhausted? In EP 467, financial strategist Megan Dahle from @megantylerdahle breaks down the invisible capacity ceiling most interior designers hit—and why adding more clients or staff often makes things worse. This episode is for every designer who thought growth would get easier but instead feels heavier, or who’s realized that pushing harder isn’t the answer. You’ll learn: ▫️ Why overwhelm is a capacity problem, not a time-management failure ▫️ How decisions and context-switching drain you faster than hours worked ▫️ Why adding more work often amplifies stress instead of profit ▫️ How understanding capacity reframes pricing, staffing, and leadership decisions Ready to make calmer, more strategic decisions about how you grow? 🎧 Listen to EP 467 today. Throw back to our booth at Westedge, talking all things process. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make a space come to life. Sometimes people forget that being an interior designer also means being a business owner. Whether you call it having multiple verticals or wearing multiple hats, the bottom line is design is only one small part of what I do each day.
