WHY IT WORKS AND HOW TO DO IT If you’re stuck in fight or flight, it can look like: • bloating, urgency, or digestive flares • tight chest, shallow breathing • jaw, neck, or shoulder tension • dizziness or feeling “off” • a calm mind but a body that won’t settle • anxiety without a clear reason These symptoms aren’t random — they’re your nervous system scanning for danger. This simple head + eye movement works because it speaks directly to the body’s safety centers, not the thinking brain. By gently moving the head and eyes together, you activate the vestibular system (your balance + orientation system) and calm the brainstem — the part of your nervous system that controls fight or flight. When your body feels oriented and safe in space, it gets the message: “I’m not being chased. I’m not falling. I’m okay.” That’s when the body can shift back into rest, digest, and healing. How to do it: • Sit comfortably and let your shoulders relax • Gently tilt your head to the right • Look diagonally up with your eyes, then diagonally down • Bring your head and gaze back to center • Repeat on the left side • Move slowly and breathe naturally • Stop if your body feels complete — not forced This is a bottom-up reset. You’re not calming your body with thoughts — you’re showing it safety. 💬 Comment “30” and I’ll send you my top somatic exercises to get you out of fight or flight and back into a healing state. 💕 Follow for more healing hacks. #nervoussystemreset #healing #health #nervoussystemdysregulation #ibs

YOU GOT TO TRY THIS!👇🏼 this is the number one structure you want to make sure is working well if you want your nervous system functioning properly! And if you: 👉🏼 feel like you’ve done all the protocols, but still struggle to get well 👉🏼 feel like your body is constantly in an overstimulated or overactive state 👉🏼 have poor sleep, chronic pain, crappy digestion or gut issues, anxiety or irritability that can feel hard to shut off… You want to focus on this guy right here If your vagus nerve isn’t functioning well, the rest of your body won’t either. ❌And you can’t heal or stay healthy long-term, if your body is constantly in a dysregulated state! Since the vagus nerve also helps interview the soft pallet of your mouth, doing this simple “Ahhhh” test can be a clue regarding whether your nervous system is being compromised! HOW TO DO IT: 1️⃣Get in front of a mirror or camera on your phone, keep your tongue at the base of the mouth. 2️⃣ Say AHHHHHH! If the vagus nerve is functioning properly, your uvula (your little hangy ball) remains vertical & lifts up, and both sides of your soft palate lift up equally. 💡when you have Vagus nerve dysfunction, one side may lift up more than the other! If one side doesn’t lift up as much, that side of the vagus nerve is weaker! If both left & right side vagus are weak then your uvula wont lift at all! Now, is this the only way to assess Vagus nerve function, and nervous system health as a whole? Of course not! But it can be very telling and a quick way to check! ⭐️⭐️Comment VAGUS for my favorite tool I use to support my vagus nerve and regulate my nervous system, and my free guide where I have some of my favorite exercises to support it too!

If you’ve dealt with trauma or chronic stress, your nervous system needs safety. Several things communicate to your brain that you aren’t safe which switches on your fight or flight response. Here’s some things your nervous system needs in order to feel that safety Slowness: when we are constantly rushing around, moving throughout our day with urgency, we stay dysregulated. Slow down, intentionally. Literally move slower, you do not have to be performing all the time. Silence: you’re too overstimulated. The moment your feet hit the floor in the morning, you’re task oriented. So much demands our attention, especially our phones and other electronic devices. Don’t pick it up first thing. Allow yourself time to sit in silence for at least 10 minutes with your coffee, or whatever that looks like for you. As you continue to go throughout your day, take silent breaks. Rest: This will come with guilt in the beginning, which is why you have to keep practicing it. It is ok to rest, it doesn’t have to be earned. Your brain will lie to you. You might start ruminating or thinking about everything you need to be doing, so you have to purposefully train your thoughts. In these moments, remind yourself what is actually true, and choose to focus on positive or good things in your life. Your brain believes what you tell it. These are just 3 ways, there are so many more, but these are a good start. It takes practice and it takes time. What are some ways you regulate your nervous system? #nervoussystemregulation #nervoussystemreset #nervoussystemhealing

Need a nervous system reset… do this 👇🏼 Legs up the wall. Butterfly tapping. Point and flex your feet Slow belly breathing. This isn’t random. It’s strategic. 👇🏼 When your legs are elevated, blood and lymph return more easily to your heart. Your heart senses that steady return and tells your brainstem, “We’re safe.” That alone starts dialing down fight-or-flight response. Now add butterfly tapping across your chest. Alternating left and right gives your brain rhythmic, bilateral input, which the nervous system loves predictable rhythm. Rhythm = safety. Safety = parasympathetic activation. Then point and flex your feet. You’re turning on your calf pump (your second heart) while feeding gentle proprioceptive input back to the brain. Movement without stress signals control, not chaos. And the game-changer? Slow diaphragmatic breathing. When your diaphragm drops and expands your ribs: • Vagus nerve activity increases • Heart rate variability improves • Cortisol lowers • Lymph and venous flow improve You’re stacking signals of safety from circulation, movement, rhythm, and breath all at once 🤩 That’s how you reset your nervous system. Not by forcing calm… But by giving your body the physiology of safety. Bonus: use a weighted blanket for even more safe nervous system input 😍 #parasympathetic #nervoussystemreset #lymphaticsupport #lymphdrainage #vagaltone

•••••••••• The body never lies. It stores stress and overload until you release it through touch. Pain is a signal. Watch the body release and reset. Medical-grade body work is not just relaxation. It is a nervous system reboot. Comment “POINT” to feel it. #medicalmassage #nervoussystemreset #somaticwork #массажодесса #одесса

Nobody talks about how exhausting this bit is. Not the meeting itself, the days before it. The quiet loop of "stay calm, it's only a meeting" and "why am I like this" that runs on repeat from Sunday until you're sitting in the chair on Wednesday pretending you're fine. And then you get through it and everyone thinks you're OK. But you're wrecked from the three days of dread that got you there. Contrary to popular belief, it's not actually a confidence problem. It's your nervous system stuck in a pattern. If this is your week most weeks, follow along - I'm a workplace communication coach who finally managed to break out of these loops. #workplacecommunication #leadership #nervoussystemreset #speakinganxiety

Something I didn’t expect… ten days in and I’ve only had alcohol once. 7 days ago too. As a serial wine drinker I’m finding this fascinating. No cravings. No trying. It’s just not crossing my mind like it used to. Day 10 of doing this viral Tai Chi bodyweight workout every day trying to lose 40lbs as a mid-40s mum. I’m genuinely wondering if it’s this viral Tai Chi bodyweight workout — like something about moving this way every day is resetting my nervous system and my body is quietly letting go of things it doesn’t need? Absolutely loving it, whatever it is! I’m a bit of a geek, so going to look into this more… The weather was rubbish today so it was hard to get extra steps in without going to the gym, which wasn’t an option with Rory still being a bit unwell. But the workout did happen today 💪 I also ended up pacing the warehouse for a bit to boost my step count — not glamorous but it all counts! Loving my new haircut too — it just feels so me. I’m really excited to see what happens over the next 30 days. Has anyone else found that when they start moving more, they naturally think about alcohol less? Who’s with me? Save to remind yourself to just get started. See you tomorrow for Day 11 ✌️ I show up because I said I would 💛 #weightlossover40 #midlifeweightloss #findingmyselfagain #nervoussystemreset #regulatednervoussystem
