Strength & conditioning doesn’t have to sit outside netball training.
It can (and should) live INSIDE it. If strength work is something you “add on” when there’s time… you’re missing one of the biggest performance upgrades available to your players. 😳 This isn’t an either-or conversation.
It’s a layering conversation. Because when strength work is layered INTO netball training, everything improves:
• Players move better
• They absorb contact instead of collapsing under it
• They hold space, stick landings and change direction extremely well
• And suddenly, the same skills look cleaner, sharper and more powerful Basic strength work is what turns skills into repeatable skills. 
It’s what allows players to execute under fatigue, win contests late in games, and stay on the court across a season — not just survive pre-season. And the best part? 🤩
You don’t need more sessions.
You don’t need a gym.
You just need to integrate it properly. After your warm-up?
👉 Add landing mechanics and basic strength so players learn to own the ground before they move fast. Add 2-3 landing mechanics for 2-3 rounds of 10 reps, then do the same with 3-4 strength exercises like glute bridges, single leg RDLs, squats, wall sits etc Between drills?
👉 Instead of standing around getting cold, slot in low-dose strength or conditioning — split squats, calf work, isometrics, planks, skilled ball work.
 Match play happening on one court?
👉 The non-playing group shouldn’t be sitting there getting cold. Use that window for strength, repeat efforts or movement prep that feeds straight back into the game. This is how you:
• Build strength without adding extra sessions
• Reduce injuries without killing skill time

Netball training & matches are starting back up this week after three weeks off over Christmas, wahoo! 🏐 But your ankles haven’t been loaded with the demands of netball during this period and the strength and reactive ability that protects you during explosive changes of direction and landing are likely to have declined. 🦶 Mentally you might feel ready to get back on court, but your tissues need priming first. Without it, that first hard change of direction or awkward landing from a jump could become the moment your ankle rolls. 🧠 Calf raises, balance work, hopping and landing exercises are non-negotiables to keep your ankles robust to the demands of netball! 👣🏐 Doing these a couple of times a week and adding them to your match day warm ups could be the difference between staying on court or ending up on crutches like I did with a grade 2 ankle sprain. 🙏🏼 I’ve created a 10 minute Ankle TCL routine specifically for netballers. It primes your ankles for the demands ahead and reduces your risk of spraining them when you change direction or land. 🙌 Comment ANKLE and I’ll send it over. 🤝

Over months of juggling and overcoming hurdles including shin splits/injuries, external stressors, exams, study, school, sports, netball training, swimming training, life, socialising and more She still managed to show up, get into the gym consistently and work her butt off in every single session. 4 months of 👇🏽 🤍 Consistently getting into the gym 3 x Per week 🤍 Sticking to a structured program 🤍 Learning, Practicing & Perfecting form/technique 🤍 Tracking weights & increasing volume weekly 🤍 Increased Protein Even with the early mornings, Getting used to being in a gym environment, being out of her comfort zone. She Never once complained, never gave up and got the job done! Here she is absolutely crushing 80kg Hip Thrusts for Repss Her Resilience, determination and hard work has clearly paid off and not only made me so so proud but to be only 16 and have such mental strength has absolutely blown me away Today is our last session for a few weeks as she’s leaving to go overseas to compete in Netball representing Australia 🇦🇺🥇👏🏾 Goodluck beautiful.
