This corresponds to the Pingala and Ida nadis, or energetic channels along the right and left sides of our bodies, respectively. Our vital life force energy known as Prana moves through these channels, among many others. ⁠ ⁠ In a Hatha practice, the specific manner in which we embody postures helps us to bring our Ha and Tha energies into balance, immersing us in the duality of existence. Breath is used to steady your posture and quieten the chitta vrittis (or mental chatter) in the mind. ⁠ ⁠ Practicing Hatha yoga looks and feels very different from other popular forms of asana. What to eat for breakfast? According to Ayurveda, it is recommended to eat something light and nourishing in the morning as opposed to heavy and/or cold foods. One of my favourites is a soupy dal or soupy Kitchari freshly made. It needs a 30 min cook time but the prep is really simple using pantry ingredients you can always have on hand, and you just throw them into the pot with water and let them simmer. Add veggies and get fancy with the spices and toppings if you have the time. The Subtle Body Series - Part 1 ✨Here’s why I don’t get Botox as a yoga teacher 🧘‍♀️More below👇🏼 The Subtle Body Series is all about reclaiming the quiet, often overlooked ways we can shift how we understand + feel in our bodies, energy, and sense of self. Someone asked me recently why I don’t get Botox, they were feeling pressure because all their friends had done it. When I shared my perspective, they said they’d never heard it before. So I thought it might be helpful to offer it here too. Now, don’t get me wrong. As much as yoga is about letting go of the ego, I’m not immune to vanity. I want to maintain health and vitality in my body, including my skin. I love skincare and I’m all for treatments that support collagen, elastin and renewal. But there was something about Botox that didn’t sit right with me. When I looked into it I learned that ✨Botox is the antithesis of energy ✨ It paralyses muscles and nerves, and in doing so, it artificially interferes with the flow of energy, causuing an imbalance of vital life force in the entire bodt and potentially accelerating signs of aging in the face. And science backs this up in a way: research shows Botox can cause muscle atrophy. Just like skipping the gym, the muscle weakens and natural plumpness decreases. When we allow natural facial movement, we: 
✓ Promote healthy energy + blood circulation
✓ Support the free flow of emotions (so central in yoga & TCM)
✓ Maintain muscle tone that actually helps prevent loss of vitality/lift For me, shutting off the flow of energy (prana in yoga or Qi in Tradition Chinese Medicine), even in the face, doesn’t align with the deeper intentions of my practice. I know this perspective won’t resonate with everyone, but maybe it will help someone who’s on the fence or feeling the pressure. ✨ Let me know what you think in the comments. PS: I’m speaking here about Botox for cosmetic use. In medical settings, the benefits can outweigh the potential downsides. #botox #yoga #prana #qi #energy #traditionalchinesemedicine #tcm
