Making your pull-ups feel easier: 🫵🏻 squeeze the bar through the outer side of your palm and little fingers as if you’re trying to *snap* or bend the bar in half over your head 😮‍💨 then drive your elbow down and back, not down and in front of the body. this will make sure you’re using your back to do the work rather than just pulling through your arms ☝🏼 think about pulling the bar to you (like a lat pull down) instead of hauling yourself up to the bar. These are bench press cues and don’t make any sense in a pull up and here is why: Retracting and depressing your scapulas before the pull up disrupts natural scapulohumeral rhythm. It creates poor leverage for your lats and prevents your scapulas from moving from upward to downward rotation properly. It makes the movement biomechanically inefficient and weak and might even increase the risk of injury for beginners. Wishing someone told me this earlier… Bodyweight low rep high set lat pull downs really helped me to progress towards getting my first pull up! Yay! 🙂 I’m happy for you if you can do pull ups (I got super overwhelmed when I got my first hehe), but if not please try doing body weight lat pulls! Like other exercises which are dead hangs, scapular pulls, inverted pulls, this is a great way to build strength, enough to do a pull up. (Start slow, it’s alright if you struggle, I still can not do bw cleans, working on it but I can do 8-10 pull ups in one set, all thanks to this one exercise). It’s just a tip that helped me! #pullup #latpulldown #pullupprogression #pulluppractice #calisthenicsgirls
