๐Ÿฆต๐ŸฝA LEG LENGTH DISCREPANCY (LLD)๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿฝexists when one leg is longer than the other with respect to the same individual. Leg length discrepancies may be classified as a structural or functional discrepancy, depending on the source. It is important to differentiate between the two types of LLD as their treatments differ greatly. The best way to rule out between a structural and functional LLD is via X-ray. ๐Ÿฉป Symptoms vary from person to person and depend upon the type, amount, and source of the leg length discrepancy. Symptoms of LLDโ€™s include: * Lower back pain๐Ÿ’ฅ * Possible hip, knee, or foot pain๐Ÿฆถ๐Ÿฝ * Limp or poor balance while walking ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ * Feeling of a constant lean to one sideโ†™๏ธ * Tiring easily from long periods of walking or activity ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ * Frequent lower back and/ or limb injuries with no apparent cause ๐Ÿ˜ซ * Discomfort bending over or standing for long periods of time ๐Ÿ˜ฃ If the LLD is structural, as a Canadian Certified Pedorthist ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€โš•๏ธ, we can treat this structural difference using a lift. True structural discrepancies are typically addressed using full foot lifts for the short side. Fitness propaganda Iโ€™m not falling for โ€” and you shouldnโ€™t either: โŒ No rest days โŒ Earning your food โŒ Cardio is the only way to lose weight โŒ Sore = solid workout โŒ Weigh less = healthy Letโ€™s break it down ๐Ÿ‘‡ No rest days โ†’ Recovery is where adaptation actually happens. Without rest, youโ€™re just stacking fatigue, not building strength. Progress = training + recovery. Earning your food โ†’ Food is fuel. Not a reward. Not a punishment. If youโ€™re training hard, under-eating doesnโ€™t make you disciplined โ€” it makes you depleted. Cardio = weight loss โ†’ Weight loss comes down to a consistent calorie deficit. Cardio can help, but itโ€™s not the magic key. Strength training preserves lean muscle and supports long-term results. Sore = solid workout โ†’ Soreness means novelty, not quality. If youโ€™re chasing DOMS every session, youโ€™re chasing inflammation โ€” not performance. Weigh less = healthy โ†’ Health isnโ€™t a number on a scale. This will allow you to breath more efficiently on your run. While running, we want to focus on breathing deeply and not quick shallow breaths through the chestโฃ. โฃ # 2. ๐‚๐จ๐ซ๐ž ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง is going to ensure your spine is stabilized throughout your run. Those trunk muscles will be ready to fire and potentially decrease running related back pain. ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐Ÿท๐Ÿถ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ๐˜ด/ ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆโฃ โฃ # 3. ๐†๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ž ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง is so so important here and those muscle need to be woken up especially before preforming maximally during a run. ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐Ÿท๐Ÿถ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ๐˜ด/๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆโฃ โฃ Spend a few minutes before your next run, work on these and see the difference yourself! Bowflex makes a great set that ranges from 5 to 52.5 lbs, though you can find similar & less expense options on Amazon as well! โฃ โฃ 2) TRXโฃ โฃ This versatile piece of equipment is super lightweight and easy to travel with. As long as you have a doorway or sturdy object to anchor it to, you can use your bodyweight for a variety of challenging exercises for the whole body. โฃ โฃ 3) Long Resistance Bandsโฃ โฃ these are super lightweight, easy to travel with and they take up minimal space.
