Literally the best decision I’ve made!!!🥹 SUCH a game changer!! if I’m totally candid; I’ve really struggled with my motivation to exercise recently, so I wanted to invest in something that would make exercise a bit easier for me. I know it sounds so silly but after a long day sometimes just getting in the car and driving to the gym as a challenge😂 not even joking, sometimes I pat myself on the back as soon as I walk through the gym doors because I think getting there is the hardest part 😂 so I thought that by having a reformer at home it means I can quickly and easily do a 30 to 40 minute workout, I don’t have to go anywhere, and I can enjoy it at my own pace!!! 💗🥰 I also don’t want my life to revolve around exercise like it once did, and I think I’ve gone so far the other way now that I’m now trying to get the motivation back!😂 I’m so glad I took the plunge and did it! Can anyone recommend some good YouTubers & workouts to follow? 6 reasons why you’re not getting that toned look from Pilates 1. You’re not progressing your workouts If your body is doing the same exercises, reps, and intensity every session… it adapts. No progression = no change. 2. You’re not training close enough to failure Pilates should feel challenging. If you’re not reaching that shaky, burning point, you’re not giving your muscles a reason to grow. 3. You’re not consistent enough 1–2 sessions a week won’t create visible results. You need consistency (3–5x/week) to actually see changes in your body. Not just Pilates 😉 4. You’re not eating enough protein “Toning” = building lean muscle. Without enough protein, your body doesn’t have what it needs to sculpt. 5. You’re rushing through movements Pilates is all about control and time under tension. Slowing down makes it way more effective. 6. You’re not incorporating strength training Pilates is amazing for core, control, and endurance — but adding strength training helps you build more muscle and create that defined, sculpted look faster. You don’t always need a new exercise… sometimes you just need a new challenge. I love playing with this in my own practice and in classes, taking the same movement and simply changing the environment it’s performed in. By shifting the base of support and the way the springs load the body, the exercise starts to feel completely different, even though, technically, nothing has changed. On the reformer, there’s a sense of flow and support. You can find rhythm, build strength, and move with a bit more ease. Then you take it to the Wunda Chair. Less support, a smaller base, and suddenly the same exercises; long stretch, tendon stretch, grasshopper ask for a deeper level of control, connection, and precision. It’s not about making things “harder” for the sake of it. It’s about refining the work, noticing where you rely on momentum or support, and building strength in a much more honest way. This is often where the chair becomes the progression. Not because it looks more advanced, but because it asks more of you. ✖️Save this for your next session and try both. you’ll feel the difference straight away. But real Pilates isn’t just “fun movement with springs.” It’s a precise method rooted in control, breath, alignment, centering, concentration, and flowing with intention from your powerhouse. You can chase the burn, invent wild exercises, or turn it into a sweaty circuit… and still completely miss the magic. Or you can do one beautifully controlled repetition of Footwork and actually train your body the Pilates way. Playing is encouraged — as long as it aligns with the principles. When precision meets playfulness, that’s when Pilates becomes truly transformative (and still ridiculously fun). True Pilates changes how you move through life — not just how your body looks. If your reformer class feels more like fitness playground than mindful movement… it might be reformer workout, not Pilates.
