32NEW ART DROP!!! Worked on the new Spiderwick Chronicles show a while back between major projects. Had to make a matching 1-1 3d model of a practical Crystal. Responsible for the Hero model, shader, bubbles and upresing the dragon inside. was on a pretty quick turn around. im glad roku picked it up after Disney dropped it.

XEDida Khouly is a CG/VFX Generalist with a strong foundation in traditional art, filmmaking, and cinematography. His Renderman Art Challenge entry, “Luminous Depths,” was created using the Xencelabs Pen Tablet Medium and earned a Special Mention in the competition. Many 3D artists think using V-Ray with Blender is too tough because you have to use V-Ray’s own nodes, not Blender's Cycles nodes. But guess what? It’s not just V-Ray. Octane and RenderMan have their own nodes too!

SIRepost (LinkedIn: Spencer Halstead) - Through the fall semester, I, along with a team of seven talented individuals, began the process of creating a short for our Texas A&M College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts Vertical Animation Studio. Our ideation led us to develop Eclipsed. Created in Autodesk #Maya, SideFX Software #Houdini, and rendered in Pixar Animation Studios' #RenderMan, Eclipsed developed my skills as a technical artist in ways I hadn't seen coming.
First and foremost, I got the chance to create a rig. While I'd done this in Blender several times, this was the first I had done so in Maya. I essentially had to learn rigging from the ground up with new systems for joint placement and connection, constraints, and controls.
Working with such a large-scale environment, I not only developed a procedural heightfield system to create geometry, but I also wrote VEX code to handle LODs and UVs, optimizing the ground plane. To make the environment feel lived-in, I developed a tire track system that isolated the path our rover drove through and displaced geometry all while preserving UVs and keeping track history in mind.

Beberapa node baru yang ditambahkan antara lain:
* PxrStylizedLightControl untuk mengatur arah cahaya dan bayangan langsung di shader, sehingga efek stylized bisa dibuat lebih bebas dari lighting di scene.
* PxrStylizedLinesControl untuk menghasilkan outline dan garis aksen menggunakan edge detection dan curvature.
* PxrStylizedHatchControl untuk membuat efek hatching dengan dukungan screen-space dan triplanar projection hingga 8 layer tekstur.
* PxrStylizedHatchingSampleXPU yang memungkinkan sampling hatching lintas frame untuk hasil yang lebih konsisten.
RenderMan sendiri dikenal sebagai renderer buatan Pixar yang dibangun untuk workflow kolaboratif, dan bisa terintegrasi dengan berbagai software seperti Blender, Houdini, Katana, dan Maya.
