Running this time of year is so much harder. BUT, I firmly believe it builds the resilience so you approach those summer runs even more! I’m starting preparation for 3 half marathons I am running early next year, and as much as I would love to stay in the warm, it has to be done As much as performance is a goal, what truly drives me is the endorphins. I always say this, but I wish everyone could fell the “runners high.” It takes a while for it all to click, but once you feel it, you never look back Running for me is therapy. And that doesn’t stop in the winter months, if anything I need it more! Do you agree?

2 years ago I started running more frequently. And what keeps me running frequently now, is how good it makes me feel 🧠 One day it just clicked, and I guess I truly experienced the runners high. For me it’s a feeling of complete freedom in my mind. And as someone who struggles with anxiety, this is a feeling money can’t buy! I went on the same journey with strength training. I started with aesthetic goals, but remain doing it because of the feeling Most of us quit before we experience the high. We think “it’s not working” because the scales don’t shift or the image in the mirror doesn’t change The “high” and the “feeling” might be just around the corner. So whatever you do, DON’T QUIT One more day. Everyday. #fitnessjourney #fitnessmotivation #runners #running

Rome wasn’t built in a day and so wasn’t this 100k. 10 years ago, I ran my first 5k through those “couch to 5k” apps. I was walking for the most part, and I’d redo the program over and over again until I could get my 5k close to 30mins. Never in my life did I think I’d one day complete an 100k. But 5k became 10k, which quickly turned into a half marathon. And then I fell in love with the training and the distance, the runners high and especially the mental health benefits. This is a lifelong journey and I know there are new goals I want to work towards. But I owe it all to the girl who chose to take her first step into a 5k 🤍 And to my favourite running buddy 🐾 She’s been running with me since the start and trained with me for all the milestones to the point where she got up to 25kms for her longest run with me 🥹 So take this as your sign to start and take your first step into building your own empire 💪🏼 #roadto100k #from5kto100k #ultrajourney #endurancemindset #everyrunnercounts

I can’t wait until “2” says “20”. What I’ve learned about running in less than a month with only a handful of runs under my belt: 1. My running block and “I can’t do this” energy was mostly mental - we can do hard things and surprise ourselves. 2. Guided runs are INCREDIBLE, they distract and motivate me in the best way. Highly recommend the @Nike running app. 3. Runners high and immense pride after completing a run are two of the best feelings. 4. Run in the rain. Be careful, but just do it. It’s so freeing and fun. #runner #runningmotivation #running #newrunner

Why you NEED a base building phase🧱 SAVE 💾 this- trust me you’ll need it. ✋🏼STOP jumping from marathon to marathon and half to half expecting better results. You need to focus on buidling a base inbetween goal races. 🛠️ What is base building? Base building is all about laying down a solid aerobic foundation by focusing on super easy, slow and consistent mileage. This period is crucial for improving endurance, strengthening your heart, and allowing your body to adapt to higher training volumes and intensity. Without it, your body really isn’t prepared for the intense speed and strength work that comes later in race prep. 🤔When Should You Focus on Base Building? The best time for base building is in the offseason or between goal races. This is when you should be running easy miles at a comfortable pace, allowing your body to recover from previous training cycles while building endurance for future ones. 🏆 Why Base Building Matters for Your Future Goals By giving your body time to adapt during base building, you’re setting yourself up to hit new levels of performance when it’s time to ramp up the intensity. You’ll see faster recovery, avoiding injury, and break through those performance plateaus and even begin to hit some pbs. Jumping from race to race without this phase is a fast track to burnout or injury. Yes the racing bug and runners high to get your next medal and T-shirt may be there but honestly rest and recover, reduce your volume, intensity and build slowly. You will thank yourself!🐌 🙋🏼‍♀️Do you spend a specific training block base building?
