HERE👇 Backstory: I’ve been an online business owner since 2010, and coaching other online business owners since 2014. I’ve learned a LOT of hard lessons along the way, most of which am really grateful for. But sometimes I dream about what I’d do differently if I was starting an online business from scratch right now, in 2024, with no audience, no product, no nothing. Here are the first 5 things I would do: 1️⃣ I would focus on a topic I’m super passionate about, but also one that evokes strong emotions & polarizing opinions. I wouldn’t try to create something for everyone. 2️⃣ I’d make sure my message & mission were clear. I’d make my business about something bigger than just the product I was planning to sell. 3️⃣ I would only focus on TWO content channels—one long form (i.e. a podcast) & one short form (i.e. IG), then focus on learning everything I could about just those platforms. 4️⃣ I’d create a truly kick-ass lead magnet to get as many people as possible on my email list. 5️⃣ I would choose ore create a low-cost entry level product that produced recurring revenue through a subscription model. How to go from 9-5 grind to OOO Entrepreneur Stop waiting to do what you want to do. 🥹🫶🏼 There are so many ways to live an out of office life (and no, I’m not going to propose creating a course or selling someone else’s 😝) I love a course, don’t get me wrong! Especially if you have a high level experience to share. BUT it’s not the only, or even fastest way, to create an out of office lifestyle 🛩️ Here’s a list of ideas to consider: 1. Playbooks & Toolkits. Step-by-step guides, essential tools, templates, or resources on specific strategies (like my Smart Girls AI Playbook 🤖) 2. Membership Communities: Exclusive content and community access through a subscription model (Yep, I have this too — my Smart Girls Mastermind Membership and OOO Club are both membership models, one is a Done With You hands on program, the other is a community hub) 3. Speaking Gigs: do you have an expertise from your 9-5 life you could travel and speak about at conferences and workshops? 4. Webinars/Workshops: Live or recorded deep-dive sessions, you could do these for your community members or in corporate environments (which pay well!) 5. Consulting: Take your experience, package it up to deliver to businesses in need of your knowledge 6. Licensing/Brand Deals: Earn $$$ by allowing brands or companies you vibe with to use your content You don’t need to do all of these (at all)! Pick one or two you can get really good at and tailor the plan to fit your skill set and audience needs. Which feels right for you? p.s. once you decide, use IG to design a sales plan to attract your perfect people! I didn’t include 1:1 coaching, even though it’s often high on the list of ways to do this. Why?! b/c the more 1:1s you do the more chained to the laptop you are (and you’re probably saying the same thing over and over). Meet other women on this path in OOO club!
