Teachers, are you thinking about bringing an animal into the classroom this upcoming school year? 🫣 Here are three reasons why you should reconsider! 😢 Life as a “class pet” is extremely stressful — Classrooms are noisy and unpredictable, which can make small animals anxious and scared! 💔 They don’t teach responsibility — Animals often end up neglected or forgotten, especially during fire drills, over weekends, & on breaks. 🐹 It sets the wrong example — Keeping animals in small cages and forcing them to live in an unstable environment sends the message to students that it’s OK to treat living beings like classroom tools.

Books: Wonder Author: R.J. Palacio Recommended Age: 11+ 💙Having heard really good reviews for this Book,I was curious to pick it up and see if I could use it for my students. What a surprise !! I fell in love with it from the first page and couldn’t stop reading it. 💙A heartwarming story of a young boy August who has facial deformities due to a genetical disorder and who has to go through a number of surgeries throughout his childhood. Though he has a great loving family, the outside world isn’t exactly very kind to him.What happens when such a boy has to go out to the world and that too Middle school for the first time in his life? 💙A must read for children and all ages. The unique thing about this Book is that it gives you the point of view from various people in his life and what led them to behave the way they did around him. 💙If you have a much younger child do read them the Picture Book version of Wonder called We are all Wonders which is also featured in the video. Talking to your daughters about their bodies and what is going to happen is step number one. Giving them the tools to feel confident in any situation is just as important. Also make sure to teach your boys about periods too! They should know it is a normal function of the female body and not something to make fun of someone for.
