DO4 Ways to Identify if you have drop foot ๐ฆถfrom Multiple Sclerosis:
1๏ธโฃ scuff marks in the front of your shoe (or holes)
2๏ธโฃ scuff marks on the outer edge of your shoe
3๏ธโฃ Scuff marks near the instep of your shoe
4๏ธโฃ Scuff marks near the base of your toes
So often, when working with my clients who have MS, Iโll notice the scuff marks on their shoe and ask if they have drop foot ๐ถโโ๏ธ and theyโll say โNope!โ Or โI donโt think soโ!
Then sure enoughโฆ as I watch them walk, they DO have drop foot! ๐ณ They didnโt even know they had it and therefore didnโt know they should be doing exercises to improve it!
Two of the best exercises to reduce foot drop are:
๐ Lifting your toes (when seated)
๐ Stretching your calf (when seated and standing)
...or if youโre REALLY advanced... walk on your heels.... yeah.. thatโs TOUGH ๐!
The most important thing is youโre aware when drop foot appears so that you can take action to improve it!
