We investigated how fast fashion brands like Zara have promised to produce and sell clothes in a more sustainable way for both the planet and the people who make their clothes. But our reporting found that those promises are at risk, due to some of Zara's — and its parent company Inditex's — business tactics. Our months-long investigation revealed that Inditex has dramatically increased its use of air shipping, despite its carbon footprint being 35 times higher than shipping by sea. South Korean comedian Park Na-rae is facing new allegations after two former managers filed a complaint with the labor authorities, claiming they were subjected to workplace harassment during their employment. According to a report aired by Channel A on January 2, the former managers submitted a petition last month to the Seoul Regional Office of Employment and Labor, alleging repeated incidents involving Park inside a vehicle while they were on duty. In the complaint, the former managers claim that while they were seated in the driver’s and passenger’s seats, Park engaged in inappropriate conduct with a man in the backseat of the car. They allege that due to the confined nature of the vehicle, they were unable to avoid witnessing or hearing the situation, and that Park, as their employer, abused her position by forcing them into an unwanted and unavoidable environment. The complaint also alleges that Park repeatedly kicked the driver’s seat during the incident, creating a risk of traffic accidents. The labor office is expected to summon the former managers for questioning later this month. Park Na-rae is already embroiled in multiple legal disputes with her former staff, including mutual lawsuits involving allegations of extortion, embezzlement, and workplace misconduct. Park has denied wrongdoing in related cases and has pursued counter-legal action against the former managers.
