🌟 Finding Balance on the Mat 🌟 Every day brings new challenges, both on and off the mat. Some days the poses flow effortlessly, while other days they feel out of reach. Remember, it’s not about perfection—it’s about connection. 🧘‍♀️✨ Every practice is a step toward healing our body, mind, and spirit. That’s why I return to the mat daily! Each session brings me peace and clarity. Why do you return to your yoga practice? Share your thoughts in the comments! 💬

Ever since I did my first Pilates class (I did the Windsor Pilates classes DVD in high school… 2003ish haha woah)… I always made my own adjustments to suit my body. I’d push myself when I needed, but also understood early on what it meant to work with my own individual ability, my own limitations, I did what felt personally effective, I tuned in. Then later I went to classes, in studios… I’d push myself too much in certain areas. I stopped tuning in and focused too much on what it “should” look like. I did this with Yoga too. This method… of focusing too much on “getting it right” and not tuning in led me to injury. Only since I dove deep into self acceptance. First for what I looked like, then everything else, including my Pilates and Yoga practice, have I been able to get back to the tuning in. I don’t do roll-ups. Why, I don’t like them, they don’t feel great for me. They don’t feel effective. They kind of feel injurious at times. I used to feel shame about this as a Pilates teacher. Because obviously I also never felt “good at them”. Anyway, that’s another story! Now! I’ve been diving deep into skeletal variation and I’m officially 🤯 you gotta remember that just like we look different our skeletons are different! For example, the vertebrae in your spine might be spaced further apart or closer together than someone else’s… this can totally change how a backbend feels or how easily you roll up and down through your spine. Maybe your hip socket faces more forward, your femur is longer, or your spine has a natural curve that someone else doesn’t have. These little differences are not right or wrong they are just facts. No pose will ever look exactly the same on every body, and that’s not just okay… it’s how it should be. So the next time your roll-up feels sticky or your backbend looks different to the person next to you… remember, you’re not doing it wrong. You’re doing it right for you.

Press handstands were such a huge part of my yoga practice after I started this account in 2012. Among the OG IG yogis… it was a race to see who could do them first. Always loved a good challenge… probably why I love CrossFit so much now. 🤣 12 years later… this is all muscle memory. I probably press handstand a handful times a week and my practice is shorter and way more chill. Priorities change. People change. Practices change. It’s all good. How different is your practice from when you started??? 🤔 Wearing @aloyoga’s all new WILD PINK ROSE color. 🩷 #alopartner #yoga #yogapractice #yogajourney #fitness #fitnessjourney #handstand #presshandstand

🧘‍♀️ Don’t Skip Shavasana! Here’s why: 💤 Shavasana (Corpse Pose/ lying down flat) is normally done at the end of yoga practice but you can also do it whenever you wish throughout the day, especially before you sleep. 3–10 minutes in Shavasana can: ✔️ Reduce anxiety ✔️ Improve sleep ✔️ Boost mood ✔️ Lower blood pressure ✔️ Anchor you in stillness and presence So next time you’re tempted to roll up your mat early… stay. 🖤 #yoga #yogateacher #yogapractice #lifestyle #shavasana

Āsana has gotten the most hype… but don’t underestimate what subtler practices (and studying Sanskrit) can add to your Yoga practice. 🙏 My Sanskrit is and will probably forever be a work in process and a labor of love. I started studying Sanskrit in 2007. On and off, until I got serious about two years ago. Maybe too serious… because now my teacher has asked me to recite Bhagavad Gītā 11.32–11.45 at a Sanskrit seminar at the University of Barcelona. 🫣😅 🌿 #yjrepost Thank you for sharing your journey with us @2yfunctionalyogaschool

Save & share if this resonates 🙏🏻 “yogas chitta vritti nirodha” A lot of the yoga poses & yoga-like movement shared on social media is often not truly ‘yoga’. As the intention behind it is to create a video. Which is fine, i’m doing it here! But when you’re truly practicing asana (which I for one can rarely film as knowing the phone is recording straight away distracts me) with the goal of stilling the mind, of taking the mind from scattered to centred, that’s when it becomes yoga practice. Using the body as a tool to recognise the inherent stillness that is synonymous with your natural being. “Yoga is the journey of the Self, through the Self, to the Self.” #yoga #yogaasana #yogaphilosophy #yogasutras #yogastudio

I absolutely love my Yoga practice and it’s my non negotiable daily practice for my spiritual connect and mental grounding but as a woman with a woman’s body I need a little extra to devellop the strength I need to unlock some skills I want to , so after much research these are the moves I feel that are going to become my weekly staples !!!!!!🥷🔥💪🏽 I am committing to these for the next few months to unlock more strength to for jump backs, jump throughs, arm balances, handstands, and stronger pulling power. And yes… a very real side effect is that defined calisthenics core. These are the moves that hit everything — upper body and core. 1️⃣ One-minute hang 3 sets 2️⃣ Scap pull-ups 8 reps × 3 sets 3️⃣ Chin-ups (banded / full / or slow negatives) 6–10 reps or max if you’re still building × 3 sets 4️⃣ Pull-ups (banded / full / or slow negatives) 6–10 reps or max if you’re still building × 3 sets 5️⃣ L-sit hold 30 seconds × 3 sets 6️⃣ Dips (banded or bodyweight) Max reps × 3 sets 7️⃣ Push-ups Max reps × 3 sets 8️⃣ Pike push-ups Max reps × 3 sets Let’s stay consistent with this for the next 3 months and see what shifts — strength, control, and overall skill. Who’s in it with me for the next 3 months? Let’s commit. Let’s go.🔥🔥🥷

I recorded this chat with @blissology last week (before spraining my ankle‼️)… the irony of timing 🤯 This— After injuring my left shoulder in SEPT 🤦🏻‍♀️(losing control/ falling off a bike going downhill) my yoga practice just hasn’t been the same. I hate to admit it. I hate talking about it. I have tried everything to mask it as I’m still working on healing it … Until this conversation with Eoin Finn. I hope you listen to this whole *3 min* reel- and if you’re experiencing ANY pain, know you’re not alone. “Heal loudly so others don’t suffer silently.” I wrote more about this in my weekly newsletter that’s out Friday afternoon because … Instagram only allows for so much to be shared ❤️‍🩹 if you want more of my deeper writings from the heart, sign up (free) via link in bio. #heal #pain #yoga #yogateacher #injury
