As far as machine ab exercises go, a lot of them tend to be shortened focused, meaning the hardest part is when your spine is already bent. Also if you’re shorter, machine ab crunches generally don’t have a super wide range of motion Which is why in my opinion it makes a lot of sense to also incorporate cable ab crunches with your torso horizontal to your body. You are able to get a more length and focus resistance profile, at least compared to the ab crunch machines. At the very least you’re able to get a better stretch on your abs since you can go into spinal extension.
