Play with the placement of the bells, they can be a little farther out in front of you than I am demoing which will force you to lean forward and hinge more. I like a squatty hingy position, so the bells are closer to me. Itโ€™s a FEELING of control, solid range of motion, & strength individual to you and your anatomy. Am I saying you should NEVER do bent over rows? NO. Am I saying most people donโ€™t do them right and hurt their lower backs? YES. Many exercise positions are challenging to get into while getting the benefits. That doesnโ€™t mean you just donโ€™t do the exercise, you find the best position/ variation / modification for YOU. I Coach thousands of people and the fitness levels vary drastically, gorilla rows seem to be a better option for a pull + core for *many* of my members.
