✨ BUTTERFLY C2B CUES ✨ Sometimes it just takes the right cues to land 😅 Especially if you're already pretty good at butterfly pull ups (like I was), but just can't seem to get that extra little something to connect to make it chest to bar (like I couldn't) So here's my secrets 😂 The cues that I implemented that really landed that helped me go from 2 to 5, to 8, to 12 then to 17 in what was about 6 weeks 💪 1️⃣ Scoop harder. That scoop of the hip joint (not a flick of the feet) needs to be a little bit more aggressive to get a little bit more power 2️⃣ Float higher. The chest to bar is a slightly bigger circle, so the rotation is slightly slower. If it feels "too slow" it's probably right, because you're letting that extra power float you higher before you intercept it with the pull 3️⃣ Pull in. Pull the bar into the chest at that top point instead of trying to arch harder 4️⃣ Squeeze the glutes. To be fair, I already had this one down. It's helpful for all kipping movements and creates a tense and strong arch position So if you're stuck in that middle place between great butterfly pull ups but no butterfly chest to bar Try these cues and let me know if they help! 🙌 #butterflypullups #chesttobar #crossfit

This is for your own good ⬇️ 👉 Butterfly pull ups ARE hands down faster than kipping pull ups. 🤝 But you need to learn the basics first. 💪 And more importantly develop the muscular strength that allows you to learn the fastest and stay the safest. 🤔 Getting butterfly pull up without strict IS possible, but it’s not worth it. Here’s why: 1. Risk of injury is much higher given the eccentric load. 2. Learning without the fundamental strength is 10x harder, especially if you don’t come from a gymnastics background. 3. 🧈🪰Butterfly Pull-Ups vs Chest to Bar Think of pull ups as a smaller, quicker movement where you stay a lot closer to the bar. Just need a wee kick to get that chin over the bar, much higher cycle rate! Chest to bar, bigger circle, bigger more powerful kick. Kick doesn’t actually go much higher, but I bring my feet back behind me more, to give myself a more powerful and explosive kick. 🍈Chest has to physically touch the bar 🍈. 👀 and hopefully not fall out of your sports bra 😂🥲 Think about falling onto and skimming the bar, rather than trying to reach up to the bar from below. With both movements, relax and find that rhythm! Start small and increase the size of the movement over time. Side note, if you don’t think these are proper pull-ups: 1. Ask any CrossFitter that can do 20+ reps of these how many strict pull ups they can do. It’ll be a fair few. 2. A few people messaged saying they can’t get their timing right for the butterfly pull-up 🦋 Most of the time it’s because they’re trying to initiate the movement with their legs instead of using their legs to aid their shoulders Start by doing strict circles on the bar pushing yourself back back away from the bar then pulling up and towards the bar Then relax the hips allowing the legs to swing naturally as you’re shoulders move you back and forth Once you feel where the legs are going you can take advantage of this natural momentum by adding a little kick in there to take you higher and make the movement faster I hope this helps 💪🏻 #butterflypullups #gymnastics #crossfit #ryourogue
