This is čhevapi, a traditional Balkan dish with roots tracing back to the Ottoman Empire. Think grilled minced meat, almost like a skinless sausage, and here it’s made with 100% halal beef.
It comes with soft, chewy Balkan flatbread soaked in a light broth to enhance flavour and texture, diced onions, and two signature sauces: a creamy dairy-based sauce and a savoury roasted red pepper sauce.
Honestly, this was SO good, definitely a must try.
This is how you eat it: rip off a piece of bread, wrap it around the čevapi into a bite-sized piece, then load it up with onions and sauce. Perfect bite every time.
Čhevapi is considered the ultimate street food in the Balkans, and it’s not something you see often in Edmonton, so if you’re trying something new, this spot is 100% worth checking out.
