The Alpha Centaurids are calling! ☄️ The Alpha Centaurids meteor shower peaks around February 8, 2026. Not the most active, but their slow, bright trails make them a delight to watch ✨ Their radiant lies near Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to us, in the Centaurus constellation 🌌. The meteors travel slowly, leaving long, glowing paths across the southern sky. The Moon will be in a waning gibbous phase (75–78%), so the best viewing is: • Nightfall to 1:00 a.m. — moon-free, dark skies. • After midnight — radiant higher for better observation. Best seen from the Southern Hemisphere, find a dark spot, clear southern horizon, and give your eyes 20 minutes to adapt. No telescope needed — just patience and curiosity ✨ 🔭 Stay curious and never miss a cosmic event with the Cosmic Watch App 📱 Available on iOS & Android #MeteorShower #AlphaCentaurids #Stars#Astronomy #Stargazing #CosmicEvents #Astrophotography #Universe #Cosmic #CosmicWatch #CosmicWatchApp

Proxima Centauri — the closest star to our Sun, located about 4.24 light-years away in the constellation Centaurus. It may be our nearest stellar neighbor, but even traveling at today’s fastest spacecraft speeds, it would take thousands of years to reach it. The universe is closer than we think — yet unimaginably far. #space #actcet #star #astronomy

Proxima Centauri is the nearest known star to Earth beyond our Sun, lying about 4.24 light-years away in the southern constellation of Centaurus. It is a small, cool red dwarf with a mass and brightness far lower than the Sun, making it extremely faint when viewed from our planet. Because of this low luminosity, it cannot be seen with the naked eye from Earth. Despite its dim appearance, Proxima Centauri is scientifically significant. It belongs to the Alpha Centauri triple-star system and hosts at least one known exoplanet, Proxima b, which orbits within the star’s habitable zone. This makes it a key target in the search for nearby potentially life-supporting worlds.

This image shows the bright glow of Proxima Centauri, the closest known star to our Sun. At the center, the star appears as a dazzling white light with sharp cross-shaped spikes radiating outward. These spikes are not actually part of the star they are called diffraction spikes, created by the telescope’s optics when capturing such an intense point of light. Although Proxima Centauri is a red dwarf star, it appears white and bluish in this photograph due to the exposure settings and imaging instruments used. In reality, it is much smaller, cooler, and dimmer than our Sun. Surrounding the star is a dark background scattered with faint, distant stars. Located about 4.24 light-years away in the constellation Centaurus, Proxima Centauri is part of the Alpha Centauri system. Despite being our nearest stellar neighbor, it cannot be seen with the naked eye because of its low brightness. This image highlights how even the closest star beyond our Sun appears as only a tiny but powerful point of light in the vastness of space. #day40 #reels #space #explore #fypppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

Look up! The King of the Winter Sky is here. From January to March, the magnificent constellation Orion climbs high in the evening sky, making it easy to spot. In this view, you can find: • Orion’s main stars: Betelgeuse, Rigel, Bellatrix, and Saiph • Orion’s Belt — the iconic line of three stars: Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka • Deep-sky wonders: the Flame Nebula, the Horsehead Nebula, and the stunning Orion Nebula (M42), a nearby stellar nursery • The radiant point of the Orionid meteor shower, which comes from Halley’s Comet Fun fact: In ancient mythology, Orion was a mighty hunter. Today, his constellation helps astronomers explore star formation and uncover cosmic secrets. Credits: @starwalkapp
