DAY 19/90 🗣️STOPPPPP letting your worth be determined by where you “place” at competition🗣️ Dance competitions are a great experience to have as younger dancers- it was everything to me!! But we need to stop placing emphasis on placing and the trophies we do or don’t get, and start placing emphasis on work ethic, discipline, and education. Winning “triple diamond platinum” doesn’t mean anything in the professional dance industry, and does not determine your worth as a dancer. At most competitions, you are simply getting 3 people’s opinions and critiques that don’t even know you!! If anything, it should be seen as an opportunity to learn from other professionals in the industry to develop your dance skills and technique. At the end of the day that is our duty as judges- to help you grow as dancers!! I hear all the time from dancers (and parents👀) that they’re upset they didn’t win 1st place or didn’t get a platinum- and I’m here to tell you to stop complaining and get back in the studio to work harder and develop more skills if you’re unhappy with your results (with love of course because I want the best for you❤️). This art is about GROWTH and evolution, not just about winning.
