👣 L’entorse de cheville : de la blessure au retour sportif 🏋️‍♂️ Aujourd’hui, on vous montre comment réaliser le Drawer Test (ou test du tiroir antérieur) pour diagnostiquer une entorse latérale de la cheville. Ce test clinique est essentiel pour évaluer la stabilité de la cheville, en particulier après une entorse, et permet de vérifier l’intégrité du ligament talo-fibulaire antérieur (LTFA). Comment ça marche ? Le patient est en position assise ou allongée, avec la cheville légèrement fléchie en position plantaire (environ 10-20 degrés). Une main stabilise le pied en dessous de la cheville, tandis que l’autre saisit le tibia. En appliquant une force antérieure sur la pince, on cherche un déplacement excessif de la mortaise par rapport au pied. Si un “sulcus” (creux) apparaît sous la malléole latérale ou si le pied se déplace de manière excessive, cela indique une lésion du LTFA. Envie d’aller plus loin ? Including: • Anterior Drawer • Talar Tilt • Ottawa Ankle Rules • Thompson Test • Syndesmosis Squeeze Test Big thanks to Mike for being the patient and Fin for filming 🤝 These tests are commonly used in clinical assessment to help build a picture of what may be contributing to ankle pain, instability, or injury. Important to remember: • No single test confirms a diagnosis • Tests should always be interpreted alongside a thorough subjective history • Movement assessment (AROM, PROM, MMT), palpation, and clinical reasoning are key Ottawa Ankle Rules: Used to determine the need for imaging, particularly if there is bony tenderness at specific landmarks or an inability to weight bear (both immediately post-injury and in the clinical setting). Technique and positioning can vary depending on the structure being assessed and clinician preference. Some variations (e.g. talar tilt positions) may be used to bias different structures, but should always be interpreted with caution. Eversion in a neutral ankle position is commonly used to assess the deltoid ligament. These are especially relevant in runners and active populations where ankle stability and load tolerance are key for performance and injury risk.
