Real change starts in the nervous system. When you tap on acupressure points while using focused affirmations, you send calming signals to the brain, and the science backs it up! A study by Dr. Peta Stapleton, published in 2020 in the Journal of Psychological Trauma found that EFT Tapping lowered cortisol levels by 43%. In a randomized, controlled trial, cortisol levels were measured via the saliva of participants before and after treatment with either EFT, psychoeducation, or resting. Each group received treatment for 60 minutes and cortisol was measured in their saliva before and after. The EFT Tapping group had a 43% drop in cortisol, while the psychoeducation group only had a 19% drop (and the resting group showed a 2% increase). As your trigger starts to lower, (down to a 3 or below) it’s beneficial and also natural to switch how we think of the feeling - towards a more positive and forward focused experience. As an example, I started to gently do this in the last few tapping points.
