SL1. Get out of your comfort zone and network. I’m an introvert, so it wasn’t easy—but the world runs on connections. If I can do it, you can absolutely do it too. The more you practice, the easier it gets.
2. Cold apply to internships. I applied to 100+ engineering internships from 2024-25 (mostly on LinkedIn) and got 1 offer—but that’s all it takes to change your life forever. Take advantage of free time during school breaks to boost your odds.
3. Career fairs matter. Skip long lines if needed and talk to smaller companies. Be genuine, learn from them, and always leave with contact info.
4. Leverage classmates & professors and build your LinkedIn early—those relationships open doors.
5. Don’t fear a long commute. I commute ~4 hours daily, it’s tough, but the experience is worth the sacrifice.
Do it tired, do it motivated.
