A reason I don’t like to focus on time is because it takes people out of focusing and connecting to their body, and instead keeps the focus on how many more seconds are left. Start with the soft @rollgahealth roller when you do your IT BAND. And don’t be afraid to get up into your hip and roll that area out. It feels sooooooo good 🤤. You can find a nice release after long hours at the desk, in the car, travel, and of course a solid lower body day. Lacrosse Ball- this is the go to for a more precise release of any trigger points in the glutes. Deeper massage. Foam Roller - I like to go to this if I’m extremely sore and need to ease in and find release. I’ll also use it after the lacrosse ball to roll out the area and get it warmed up. Bodyweight - a static stretch is always a go to post workout. P.S. I know Amazon Prime is on its last day of deals! BUT the best thing about these moves are that they are low impact and all of them work core STABILITY alongside core Strength! 😃👍🏾 What’s the difference❓ Core Strength: this is what so many people get fixated on and it is important but it’s not the ONLY important thing. Core strength refers to the integrity and efficiency of your core. Its ability to support movements and to activate when needed. Core Stability: This term refers more to how the entire core is working in relation to itself. Is there an imbalance, are the glutes too dominant or perhaps inefficient? Is there a pelvic tilt, is there balance ⚖️ across your core? 🤔 This is important because if there is an imbalance, it could potentially lead to injury or aches and pain, such as lower back pain, knee pain etc. Core stability is CRUCIAL for an efficiently functioning core and a healthy pelvic floor! Core Mobility: how is your hip and pelvic mobility? Can you sit and stand from the floor without using your hands? Research is ongoing when it comes to mobility BUT what’s interesting is that science is starting to show that mobility could be the key to an active and healthy life! It could even play a part in determining life expectancy. 😮 Give these moves a go 👍🏾 If you find your back aching during any movement, such as the third movement, where the hips are elevated, modify the exercise by removing the foam roller and perform the same movement. Grab your foam roller and stay loose with these easy glute foam rolling tips! 🔸 Grab a foam roller and place it on the ground. 🔸 Sit on the foam roller and lean to one side. 🔸 Roll up and down and side to side to try to find or tender areas. 🔸 If you find a tight or tender area, hold for 10-20 seconds or until the pain lessens. 🔸 To increase the intensity of the exercise, cross one leg over the other one and continue to look for tight or tender areas. 🔸 Do this exercise for 2 minutes per side as many times as needed throughout the day. The foam roller give your lower back some release with these moves that you can then do on the floor. (I love this song by the way…play it while you stretch!) Twisting is also a great way to wake up your bowels in the morning (ahem!) and get “moving”.
