You don’t memorise derivatives. You watch them form. A point moves. A tangent rotates. A slope changes. Then those changing slopes create a new graph. That new graph is the derivative. Most students are taught the rule. Very few are shown the process. Save this. This is how calculus actually makes sense.

Need advice on how to pick u or even how to start a calculus problem? This is the kind of strategy I talk through in all my YouTube videos—what’s actually going through my mind when I set up integrals, choose substitutions, and decide what to try next. Nobody is born knowing u-substitution. It comes from practice, repetition, and understanding the thought process—and you can absolutely get there too. Students don’t usually struggle with the integration part of improper integrals. They struggle with the setup and evaluating the limit at the end. If the function is undefined at a limit of integration, you have to decide: Are you approaching from the left… or from the right? And if you set that up wrong, everything falls apart. This is a quick clip from one of my Calc 2 lectures explaining exactly how to think about it. If you’re in Calculus 2 right now, I have full improper integral lectures on my YouTube channel — and I’m filming a brand-new algorithm-focused version tomorrow 👀 Save this for exam review. xoxo, Professor V #calculus2 #improperintegrals #calc2help #integrals #collegecalculus mathprofessor mathhelp stemstudents mathstudy mathwithProfessorV

You memorised it. But memorising sin′(x) = cos(x) is not understanding it. The derivative isn’t magic. It’s just the slope — being plotted. When you actually see the slope forming a new wave, calculus stops feeling random. Save this. Next: cos(x) → −sin(x).

The Mean Value Theorem is one of the most important ideas in calculus because it builds a bridge between average change and instantaneous change. Suppose a function is continuous on a closed interval and differentiable on the open interval between two points. The theorem guarantees that there is at least one point inside the interval where the derivative of the function is exactly equal to the slope of the secant line joining the endpoints. In simple words, if you draw a straight line connecting two points on a smooth curve, then somewhere in between the curve has a tangent that is perfectly parallel to that straight line. This result is not just a technical statement. It explains why speedometers work, why motion with changing speed still has a moment where the instantaneous speed equals the average speed, and why many error estimates and proofs in calculus are valid. In this visual animation, you will see the secant line sliding across the curve until it becomes parallel to a tangent, turning a formal theorem into an intuitive geometric fact. Whether you are a school student, a university learner, or a teacher, this concept is a foundation for understanding real analysis, numerical methods, and the deeper meaning of derivatives.

Stop Struggling with Differential Equations #Calculus #EulersMethod #Math #DifferentialEquations #Manim Master differential equations with this visual guide to Euler's Method! Understanding numerical analysis is crucial for solving complex calculus problems that lack easy analytic solutions. In this video, we break down the formula step-by-step using a practical example where dy/dx equals 0.5y. Watch as we calculate each point and compare our linear approximation to the true exponential curve. We also highlight how error accumulates over time.

As the width of the rectangles (usually called delta x) approaches zero, the sum of those rectangles becomes the exact area under the curve. In calculus terms, the integral is the limit of the Riemann sum. Essentially, the Riemann sum is the process, and the Integral is the perfected result.

Area between curves is a sneaky exam question — it’s not just about integrating, you need to figure out the intersection points and which function is on top. Here I walk through finding the area between an exponential and y = 1 - x by setting them equal, testing a point, and setting up the integral correctly. Always check x = 0 first when solving for intersections!
